Anyone Really Bothered About The Stone Roses New Album ?

I was really hyped about their comeback, which was first announced over four years ago, and loved 2012-2013, seeing them a total of five times. They were may fave band as a teenager in 1989, loved them then, and loved the comeback gigs.

At the end of 2013 I was eagerly awaiting the new songs.

Got to say though, even though I got a ticket to see them in Manchester, I do feel the time has just about passed. I am almost not bothered about seeing them again and I guess the new music will just sound very similar to their old stuff.

Will see, but just wondering if any others feel the same.

Bothered about it...Maybe? It will either be a brilliant trip down memory lane that will rekindle the old chemistry or a cynical money making bid before they fall out with one another and split again. If nothing else it will be interesting seeing what it turns out to be.

I wasn't bothered about their old ones.

They influenced a lot of better bands, though.

Not the most prolific of bands, are they?

I will wait and see , 'The Stone Roses' literally changed my life , I went from a loner soft metal fan to a cool kid and got some great indie girlfriends including my now wife

'The second coming' had its moments , a new album would have to better Blurs or it will be considered a failure and a waste of time , it won't beat Suedes comeback records .

bands should stay split up, dont mess with the legacy, pixies output has been pretty disappointing on the whole, maybe aint that pretty at all was ok but indie cindy doesnt measure up to even their weakest releases. I cant see the stone roses producing anything as life affirming as their debut, or as divisive as their second release.

Yes generally that's true but Suede are just as good as ever with their last two albums , the new one possibly their 3rd best.

Possibly, I feel their first 4 are better than anything they have released since.

the 5th album was awful , the 6th has some great singles and the new one is easily better than 'Head Music' and could be better than 'Coming Up' if I listen to it enough , it really is the 'Dog man Star' of the comeback.

I'm a bit surprised at that after your comments about youth movements and associated music on other threads. If there is an album and a group that says something about the late 80s, early 90s Madchester scene then it would be 'The Stone Roses' and probably 'Pills 'n ' Thrills and Bellyaches' by The Mondays. I think music like this needs to be if not revered then respected for the part it has played in making Britain a great place for pop music.

Could a new Stone Roses album have the same impact? the answer is no.
Could the band make another great record yes, but they will take their time over it.
