Ta chaps, Steve A smart DNS service should be faster than a VPN as no need to encrypt/decrypt and simple to setup. A VPN would also be far from easy to setup, traffic would have to be routed via a VPN router or via a PC. The unit also functions well with a local IP address without being able to play on-demand content. |

Thanks for that. I have a Foxsat HDR there at the moment, but my son wants one in his room, so I am giving him that and upgrading the one in the lounge. Ideally I want to be able to watch iplayer etc for catch up.
So you mean a dns service like dyndns? Steve |

So you mean a dns service like dyndns? Steve Search for "smart DNS service UK" and you should find a few offerings. Check that they offer what you want. On the HDR-1100S turn off your router's DHCP server to get it to offer manual DNS settings. Then you can set it up and get it to offer manual settings again. |
