All this anst for 'poor Stephanie' is baffling me

She is simply one of those people who live in the moment without giving much thought to the possible consequences of their actions

There are plenty of people like that, and their lives chug along quite nicely

There isn't any reason to assume she will 'change' in the future ... that's just how she is, and the concern that it is a sure path to doom and self destruction is, in my opinion, entirely misplaced.

She will go through life being one of those rather reckless people who put their own immediate needs first, and she will be fine.

oh there will be others along the way who will, no doubt, be hurt by her rather selfish approach to life in one way or another ( there always are ) but she will 'justify' it to herself and move merrily along

There is no need to worry about Stephanie.

Did you hear the bit about the dolls head? It was kind of hard to keep track of what she was saying, but at one stage when she was talking about opening presents she was stressing how excited she gets, irregardless of what they were... And she said something like, "This one time... And I opened it up... And it was a dolls head! And I was like, yeah! Brilliant! Woo! And I was running around with it..." At which point she got sidetracked for the umpteenth time and didn't finish the story... I swear it was supposed to end with her Mum having to point out to her that the head had just come off and the rest of the doll was still in box if she'd looked!

Visions of her running round clutching a tiny head and cheering!

Try stage school, try theatre, try other reality shows, try x factor, try soaps, try anything at all if it means "fame". People have been telling her how brilliant she is since she was a kid and she believes it. She is stuck in a timewarp of being the cutesy 16 year old we saw on Rainbow and has'nt grown up.

Her speech about needing constant love translates to needing constant attention as she has always had it. In her head she is doing nothing wrong with Jeremy, she needs attention so she is taking it from whoever is there to give it. She is a sad, dillusional messed up ADULT who needs a reality check.”

You've got her sussed pete. Bang on in my view.

That 15 min or so segment at the end, showed to me that she is a self-imploding disaster waiting to happen at some point. Clearly she has a fast - even eloquent of thought - mind given how fluid her talking was about life at Christmas. But on the other hand, it revolved around the telling of a dysfunctional alcoholic family who get wasted by lunch time as a matter of course when possible - especially weekends, so much so that she slept through one Christmas because by the time afternoon rolled around, she/they were all shit-faced.

I do now think that there is real intelligence there..just no moral compass in her life that has ever directed her towards focusing on others and how they feel, or how to behave as the adult she now is - despite her protestations of 'Picking on a 22 year old.' when not in favour.

She is very damaged goods, and considering the upbringing where she also mentioned apart from alcohol being a driving family force, her Mum could not cook worth squat - that to expect her to be anything other than the mess she is now would be wishful thinking.

Does she have the intellectual capacity to turn her life around ? Absolutely..barely even a question worth debating.

Does she have the desire and caring family network to help this happen ?

Really does not sound like it.

I do not like her, as she exhibits no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and having a mother bleating to the press whilst in there..essentially excusing her Golden Ticket Girl for all and any wrongdoing - is really doing nothing to help Steph have a chance to mature and become less insular in her mindset as to how it is that the world really does not revolve around her.”

great post . You have hit the nail on the head ^
