Can we reflect a bit for next year.
Rumours are - "so and so has followed Brendan on Twitter" A Rumour is NOT - "Geordie Shore slapper so-and-so would love to do Strictly, she said at the press launch of her own brand of STD testing kit". The Lazy PR scum should do their jobs properly, and not just crowbar the good name of Strictly into every tabloid and celeb magazine article promoting some z-lister's latest piece of tat. |

To repeat myself yet again: including Judge Rinder, the male line-up only features one person older than their late thirties, and that is Ed Balls, who is 49. Together with the apparent female line-up (with Lesley the only person older than late forties), I would STRONGLY expect the last man to be in their fifties or older.
Also: if they had booked Greg Rutherford or someone of that calibre, I would expect him to get an announcement to himself, not be lumped together with two other reveals on The One Show. |

Loved the "STD testing kit" bit too, somehow very apt.

I wonder how long it'll be before someone starts a 2017 Rumour thread?!

Okay, something has gone a bit wrong with this line-up age-wise, and I still think they're risking a bad reaction from the press and a big part of their audience... but it should be a competitive year with a lot of strong dancing if they can get past that. And whatever else, Greg is a very good booking. So I'll try to remain positive.

Excatly what we want in a dancing competition...why on earth would you have to "try" and stay positive?
Sorry to disappoint Hound but I think he'll be slightly above Iwan but no where near Louis... If Greg can develop his popularity then he will do well. |

Louis also had charm and personality in bucketloads, and he was very sweet to the fans on the Tour.
If Greg can develop his popularity then he will do well. I just hope Greg can dance and come across far better than Iwan.... |

He may well have been but that had nothing to do with him winning the series as that was prior to the Tour.
I just hope Greg can dance and come across far better than Iwan.... I found it so weird about Iwan, I always found him to be fine on The One Show etc but as soon as he was on the dance floor he morphed into an arrogant monster (IMHO )

Iwan was over zealous, him running over to pick up Orla was misjudged, I think it was over excitement, but the press made more of it, and that was it, it takes ten seconds to make a lasting impression.

I think it was a combination of things - he couldn't put the training in, I seem to remember, in the first weeks due to other work stuff? and Ola wasn't really at her most committed (and, possibly expected to be partnered with Peter?) - and the other designated duffers just came across better.

But Iwan wasn't slated as a "designated duffer". There were many who had high hopes for him....much like they have with Greg. Hope we don't do for a trip down memory lane with him.....

I hope I'm wrong but I feel like all he has to do to get to the final is turn up. |

I think the reaction to Greg means he won't be allowed to slip through the net like Iwan did... he'll probably make it to Blackpool if he's the worst dancer of the lot, and most likely be decent and comfortably make the final.
I hope I'm wrong but I feel like all he has to do to get to the final is turn up. His saving grace? He will likely be paired with the ever-popular Natalie. She is a good teacher and will bring out the best of whatever he has a la Michael Vaughan. |

Anneka Rice seems to be an audience celeb spot every series - I wonder why she hasn't been asked?
Or perhaps she has turned them down, preferring to stay on the sidelines

Anneka was heavily rumoured for 2013 but didn't end up doing it.
Ruth Langsford says she wasn't even asked this year, but would love to do it. |
