Not surprising really, given the source being bookies' odds,

Didn't Bendymixer or someone once say that Cheryl did ballroom/latin dancing in her youth? The producers can justify contestants with previous dancing experience in other genres, but not those with previous experience in latin/ballroom. That really would be unfair to the contestants starting from scratch.

When that is their starting point, I expect a pro to be able to do something special.

I think Karen works very hard, cares, has a fun personality and adapts to the celeb, but she just hasn't got the experience to be able to teach the dances to a high enough level.”

Christ, you gave me a fright! I clicked on it and it was a Westlife video! 😱I closed the screen immediately!
Seriously now, you can't judge him by that, this is just him bopping along a pop song, Westlife weren't exactly known for their marvellous choreography but the exact opposite, ie. "blokes sitting on stools".
But you don't believe she can't produce or teach well, and that's fine, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise anyway.

I wonder who the best teachers are within the pros and how much comes down to personal chemistry between the pro and the celebrity? I absolutely adored Aliona's choreography and was one of her biggest fans but even I would have to concede that she had to really like her pro in order for the partnership to work. I've never thought Brendan really liked any of his celebs

Brendan got on very well with Jo Wood and Michelle Williams.

He was also very good the year he was rent-a-pro, after his celeb had been eliminated and he had to stand in for a couple of the other pros - I can't remember which year it was.

EDIT: It was series 9, the year he was partnered with Lulu.

The only noticeable I had from Brendan not liking his partners was Sunetra, which I always found odd because I thought she was pleasant.

Yes, sorry, I'm being a bit unfair. I do actually like Brendan a lot, I just sometimes feel he really is there to pay the bills rather than he actually loves it to bits.

In recent years, Brendan does seem to have been phoning it in a bit, but there have been a few years when he seemed to be enjoying himself.

He also seemed quite fond of Natasha Kaplinsky.

I do not particularly like James Jordan's personality, or his choreography, but he was a splendid teacher. It still surprises me how little teaching he seems to do now, very little mention of either him or Ola teaching on his social media.

I think Natalie is a good teacher - and from the way she explained things on ITT, Joanne as well. Matthew Cutler on Carolcam seemed to be s good 'un and, of course, the lovely Ian

Funny thing teaching - just because you are excellent at what you do, doesn't necessarily mean you can teach it - and just because you may not be so good at the doing, doesn't mean you can't teach others. Teaching is a skill in itself, and I think that's often overlooked.

Oh most definitely.

Yes, Natalie comes over as a brilliant teacher with a lovely warm personality. I'm sure we often see a much nicer side to the pros when they are partnered with "duffers". She was lovely with the antiques guy (too lazy to look up or remember his name) and so sweet with Ainsley.

I was just going to post this, I've been saying for 4 or 5 years I'm surprised she hasn't done it. She would be very popular I think.

Is Ruth going to be Lewis's crush this year if she does it as he was begging for Georgia last year as if I seem to remember he was hoping her rumour was true and when it was he was like yes the one wanted!
