Why are they objecting to the caste system.

Britain has a caste system as well..
Do you mean the Asians or what some people call the class system?

Actually if there are 2 different classes in the UK that have a lot in common its the aristocracy and the underclass. Both have an air of entitlement, a complete disregard of social mores, couldnt care less what anyone thinks of them, skewed moral compasses and are known to be completely raucous and act with a lack of dignity.

I couldnt do it, I must admit. The climate would just kill me, my feet would be the size of footballs and I would be puce.

I would love the food and the people. I couldnt cope with any toilet issues like Miriam experienced.

Its somewhere I have always wanted to visit, but Id have to hire a driver to take me round for the week but I really dont think I would cope with the heat which is a real shame.
It's not so bad in the winter, especially in northern India. It's such an amazing place full of amazing people that it's well worth any physical discomfort

Well I should clarify and say its humidity that kills me, I have been to Egypt a couple of times and the heat there was dry and I didnt mind that.

Google it. It's not at all like our class system, which is bad enough.

I enjoyed that, it was a refreshing change to BB watching grown ups adjusting to a new culture. I'd go tomorrow...I may have to because I won't have a nice pension to live off when I retire. My state pension in 20yrs time might just stretch to retiring to India lol

Plus Im surprised about Jan Leeming, she was a bluddy nightmare on IACGMOOH
She was Tia! I think there'll be some clashes to come and not from the men! The women are all pretty vocal and strong minded - particular about their likes and dislikes. Still finding their feet and are quite charmed by it all. So far.

I'd say the British system is pretty stringent as well...
You obviously don't understand the Indian caste system.

The British class system is mere snobbery, based on the perceived status endowed upon a person by means of inherited wealth. The Indian caste system is far nastier than that, being akin to a system of racism operated within a single race.

How very strange, I only watched the first movie on Sunday.

Really enjoyed this. A fantastic range of characters.

Lots of options - Thailand and Malaysia where English is also widely spoken.

This place looks lovely!

Why rot in England in the damp and cold with awful social care when you could enjoy your retirement years in the sunshine.

Who is this Bobby bloke? Don't think I know him.
Bobby George, a very popular likeable former darts player and quite a character too. He analyzes with the BBC on darts every year on the World Championship that starts in the New year.

Looks interesting but are any of them actually looking for retirement ideas?!
That was my first thought too and I doubt it. I think they are there for the exposure and the opportunity in general it may bring and obviously whatever money they are for the programme.

I'd be happy in Malaysia, altho Kuala Lumpur can be a bit hot. I've just finished watching John Torode's Malaysian Adventure on Good Food.

Chip on shoulder springs to mind.

Quite enjoyed this although M.M is already starting to really annoy me with her attitude of " well I'm not doing that and they better not expect me to help out" and I wish Wayne would stop camping it up so much. Read an interview with the cast before this was transmitted, not wishing to give anything away, but their conclusions were not surprising.

I enjoyed this - it's clearly based on the film, but how much 'reality' is there here - do people really retire to India, or was it just an idea for the film? (Before the film, I'd never ever heard of the idea.) I worry about the people who are already suffering from things like arthritis (like Bobby and Miriam) - is there a sufficiently robust healthcare system to cater for their needs? And Jaipur is so busy (poor Bobby said it was like a 'war zone'!) - not exactly peace and quiet for one's declining years? I can envisage long winter holidays there, but not a permanent retirement place - giving everything up here would be a step too far for most Brits, methinks...

I found Miriam and that fat chef, vile with a terrible sense of self entitlement.
Pointless programme, they'll all vote to stay in the uk

Yes, I know of several couples who have retired to India. Their standard of living is amazing. They have two homes - one in town for winter and one in the hills where it is cooler, for the summer. And believe me, neither couple were well off in UK.
