What was the song playing while they were having their elephant ride? It sounded so familiar. Last week and the week before we had Mamma Mia, couldn't get this one.

She came across as a very lonely woman...not had a relationship for 12 years...lost her parents recently.....and her only child lives in Australia. She was looking forward to somebody ...anybody showing her some kind of affection.

I've loved this series and so wish we had another three weeks of it.

I've loved watching them adjusting and throwing themselves into the life, within their abilities to do so.

Jan Leeming looks fabulous but My God she's a neurotic, needy, attention-seeking mess and I'll bet that when her new friend meets her in England she'll see it too.

I met her in the eighties when she was still feeling on top of her looks and attraction. She walked into the room and every woman there might just as well have been a speck of dust on the carpet. Silly manipulative woman (and I was feeling sorry for her last week).

Rosemary - I'd never realised how panic-stricken she is. She rather endeared herself to me in her truth-telling. I hope she finds a way to become more calm.

Wayne was just Wayne. I think he gained a lot but he's a TV Pro so knew how to play it.

Same for Miriam. I enjoy her performances but she gave the Producers their moneysworth.

Yes. I think she is lonely but also very needy , attention seeking and self absorbed . I did wonder that she would consider spending four months living with strangers in India rather than visiting Australia for a few months to see her son

The Indians call it P.I.O (Person of Indian Origin), and it seems to work as there`s enough Brits renting places in the winter months.

Yes lots do rent but many were duped when they were told they could buy, which they did, registered and have now lost their property. They are not allowed to sell and some have been possessed by the Government.

When Wayne asked the two gays if he could move there with his husband, he was told that although it is illegal there, as long as you are discreet they don't bother you, and he said, "so I'll have to move back into the closet."

This series was fascinating - though some of the 'celebs' were a bit meh. I agree with those who found Jan Leeming too needy and self-involved. She was ghastly in IACGMOOH but whatever her faults she is so lonely. Loved Miriam - my daughter worked with her once and adored her and I met her at work (in radio) and she was delightful... if very crude!! But she is fiercely bright - Cambridge grad and so interesting to talk to.
The prog's made me think fondly of retiring to India now!

Well, I seem to be out on my own here, but I found Jan charming, and what several of you describe as needy and self absorbed, I just see as vulnerable and lonely. I hope she continues to get on well with her new friend, but I am not sure she is robust enough to live in India long term.

Pity we didn't get to hear much from Patti and Roy, but an excellent programme overall.

Heard quite a lot about this so i am just starting on episode 1.

I found this series fascinating. It made a pleasant change to see celebrities all getting along and not playing up to the cameras. I liked how they all helped each other.

Bobby George really surprised me. I thought he'd struggle more than most. But he actually seemed to get on the best and even stayed on in India. Love his turn of phrase when he talks. He never changes. I've been watching him since the 1970s playing and presenting darts, and he's been exactly the same all these years.

Would have liked to have seen a little more of Roy Walker and Sylvester.

Overall a great series. I liked all of them without exception.

I thought that Roy's mention about his wife's death was really moving!

It was a really good programme and a shame that it lasted just the 3 episodes. They could have made it longer by including Patti, Roy and Sylvester a bit more than they did.

I feel that I don't know anything more about Patti than I did before the programme started and only a little more about Roy and Sylvester. Maybe they didn't come across very well when filming, maybe their views were strongly against India as a retirement place. Surely there must have been some footage taken of them as they all seemed to go off in different directions on their little jaunts. Where did Patti, Roy and Sylvester go?

I agree. The most interesting thing we saw Sylvester do was playing the spoons - but that was only in the background. I mentioned before that my daughter met him at a comicon 'do' last year and he was having to use a mobility scooter as he had had an operation I think. She said though he spent ages talking to her and was interesting and funny. I am sure he had more to offer than was shown.
Patti too all we really saw was her singing once and getting ready. Briefly mentioning how she could compare India to Africa. Those two and Roy were like the support cast!.
Definitely could have been a couple of episodes more to include those three. If they were less enamoured with India it would have been good to include that for a more balanced view.

Well, I for one, would hate to live there. While I enjoyed watching the series I have absolutely no desire to even visit India.
I lived in the tropics when I was young and could cope with the heat then, but now it would just about kill me, if the food didn't get to me first!

A lovely (too short) series. For a fleeting second, I thought maybe I could retire to India but the heat and the lack of flush toilets just wouldn't make that possible.

Very interesting to see these well known faces as real people. Miriam is a natural comic and I found that I warmed to Wayne. I agree about Jan Leeming being a very needy person. I think she needs to be very careful about falling in so readily with new 'friends'.

I do hope this isn't the last we've seen of The Real Marigold Hotel.
