Wasn't there that whole hoo-ha at the start of the series about Darren starting to smoke again which John nominated him for? Surely he should have been the first pick.

You might have a point there...she picked basically the opposite of who might actually need a 'detox'.

I can't help feeling that the whole point of bringing in the McKeith was purely to create conflict with the effort-averse Gemma. But then at the last minute Gemma became exempt due to 'illness' and McKeith was already booked and paid for. It really doesn't matter who they chose as really they just wanted Gemma.
