For example, the reason we get so many celebrity housemates now from shows like TOWIE, Geordie Shore etc are because these shows are popular now days. If the show was still the same as it was during the Channel 4 days, nobody would be watching it. It has to move on with the times in order to stay relevant. You can't expect it to stay exactly as it was for 17 years. I agree that there are certain tweeks need to be made in terms of the production, however all in all the show is catering to the way society has changed. Just to stress, I did prefer the Channel 4 days. But Channel 5 have had to do what they have done or we wouldn't even have a show. With regards to the vote to evict debate which constantly get brought up...if we had vote to evict this year then people like Gemma, Tiffany, Stephanie, John etc would have been out ages ago. Love them or hate them, they have been the most talked about and have provided the most entertainment/drama.”
Spot on...if it were the original days where there were no twists and turns and nothing ever happened it would be an absolute bore.
One other thing - the contestants are much more savvy. You take the likes of John who came in with a clear plan of winning them over and then blowing it up can be totally scuppered by the changes in the rules. There is a large number of the audience that have quite literally grown up with BB...they know the tactics and how to play the game. Even Monopoly has 'go to jail' cards - every game has twists and turns, and with the audiences becoming contestants it makes it even more necessary.
Having said that, I often get tired of the twists and turns...I do understand the need.
I'd change the crowd noise going into the house. There should be dead silence or just consistent and constant polite clapping for them all.
