Seeing as Rihanna has a thread about her upcoming 8th studio album, I thought i'd make one for Britney seeing as it looks very likely she will release her 9th studio album sometime this year

What are everyone's hopes for it? its looking like will.i.am has nothing to do with it which is good in my opinion as he really did a crap job with Britney Jean. I have just read there might be some rock songs on the album so might sound like Don't Keep Me Waiting from Femme Fatale. I love that song so might be nice hearing Britney doing more pop/rock songs. I also want songs produced by Danja, Dr Luke and Max Martin and the album to have the same vibe as In The Zone and/or Femme Fatale and a bit of sounds of Blackout with Danja producing.

So, all in all, I want a mix of In The Zone and Femme Fatale with an essence of Blackout. I don't want a complete Blackout 2.0 though as I still want it sounding fresh. But by 'fresh' I don't mean Britney's idea of 'fresh' which is will.i.am's robotic sounding stuff

I was sort of hoping for a more urban/R&B-type album a la ITZ or Blackout (or some of her unreleased songs) but a rock album would be cool too. It would be a different direction for Britney even though has experimented with that kind of music before on some of her album tracks. Lonely from her third album has a rock sound to it and so do Rock Boy and Rock Me In from Circus. Don't Keep Me Waiting from FF is the same. I really hope Pretty Girls isn't going to be representative of the whole album as I really don't like that song, even though I'm a diehard Britney fan. Are we getting an EP or a full album? Some rumours suggest we're getting an EP, but I'm not inclined to believe that.

I am looking forward to any new music we might be getting. I just hope nothing on it is like Pretty Girls. I'd like something new. Hopefully the label doesn't interfere like before. Femme Fatale was suppposed to be urban until the label intervened, and Britney Jean was reportedly Blackout 2 and then they bought will.i.am on board and he ruined it.

I love PG and don't think it deserved the hate it got. BJ was ok but not great though. Perfume and Don't Cry was the only 2 songs I really loved

PG didn't seem to be too popular with the fans. I wouldn't say I hated it but I don't really like it either. It's rather annoying and I find it a bit childish. As for Britney Jean, it was average at best. Alien, Work Bitch, Passenger, Don't Cry, Hold On Tight, Brightest Morning Star and Tik Tik Boom (minus T.I.'s rap) are the only ones I listen to regularly from that album.

Should be sooner than that. Rumours circulating that the first single will be out on 4th March and the album at the end of April.

How is this going to work when she's doing the Vegas residency until 2017? We're literally going to end up with the album and videos for the singles and that's it. She's not going to have time to do any promo at all. Not that she does these days anyway I suppose.

I feel good about this upcoming album. She seems to be passionate about her career again. And if she wants to she'll have plenty of time to promote in between Vegas legs. But if she doesn't then I couldn't really care less as long as we get some great new music that can erase the stain of Britney Jean.

I think in the same interview he says she can promote/promote in America and beyond just not in Las Vegas apart from her piece of me show

There also considering taking the show international something like 3 weeks in Europe and 3 weeks in Asia is being considered

She needs to work with more new producers, Cashmere is a step in the right direction. I don't want her recreating old albums like Blackout or Femme Fatale. I want fresh ideas and sounds. Pretty Girls was a fun, albeit dated song with it's DJMustard-esque production. Bring on the experimental Britney phrase. I want innovative songs like Unusual You or Trip To Your Heart - both very different sounds for Britney.

Apparently the album is 80% done so I should suspect a first single should be out soon.

Celine Dion still promoted her last album while tied to her Vegas residency. She just released and promoted it when she wasn't doing her shows. Remember, you don't perform every week of the year. You perform every few months.

Looking at her schedule, she has four more dates to play. Then she is free in March. and then returns in April to do eight more dates. So March will easily be a perfect time for her to kick the era off.

I read last night on a Britney forum that apparently her new single is premiering on Friday [4th March] but don't know how true that is

She seems to be really passionate about this album, and has taken quite some time on it. Whatever we are given as long as it isn't a PG similar sounding album (was okay), or worse the dross that was BJ then it should be enjoyable. I'm just happy to have a new album as it's been an age since 2011 and that was the last new music I listened too as BJ is unlistenable for me .

I just miss old Britney. She really hasn't been at her best for like 9/10 years now. It's sad because she was SO hot. She needs to have her image on point and try and act a bit more 'together' in interviews etc. She also has to promote.

I'd love to see her 9th album have something really special about. No Britney Jean/Pretty Girls garbage. I think she needs to stay away from any dance sounds too. Meghan Trainor's new song has an old school Britney vibe about it and it's really good. It's almost like it's what Britney should be releasing now.

She's never going to be a big commercial success again imo but it should be interesting to see if this new album is indeed as good as she is making out or just the usual bs to get people to listen.

True and she hasn't got the thing her contemporaries have: they all can cut it live or attempt it at least (Swift, Rihanna, Perry, Gaga)
Why would a mime act deserve to get big again if you cannot do properly what you attempt to be-a singer

I am very optimistic about this album. She has been very happy the past few years, her bubbly personality is back and her latest Piece of Me shows have been amazing. I really think that we may get something amazing and sucessful out of her! <3
