Victim of autocorrect, I expect. Most likely spring was intended, not sprint.
The fact that the BBC has lost The Voice next year will free up some scheduling slots. |

It was awful in most of season 9 - channeling Doctor number 2 maybe.... but he looked really bad with the wild hair, scruffy hoody and shirt look. The smarter red velvet jacket was much better in the last 4 episodes. |

Although he isnt my ‘favourite’ he certainly is OK in the role (as they all have been in my opinion). (there's a 'but' any minute right?) Im not one for bashing certain actors or incarnations as they all bring something different to the role (.... 'but'?...) . I will always continue watching regardless.
For me, the introduction of the 12th doctor was a slight misstep (Ah! there's the 'but'. You really drew out the suspense there. |

I don't think they have a clue what the 12th Doctor should be. His character in season 9 was very different to season 8 and his clothes reflected that. They even tried to give him a level of (fake) wackiness with the addition of the tank, sonic glasses and electric guitar. I think the 12th Doctor it proving to be the least consistent incarnation. He'll probably be in a burgundy coat and long scarf for season 10. Or suddenly find a love of cricket.
With all the fevered speculation as to what the new doctor would be wearing you can imagine the reaction - 'is that it??' - scruffy hoodie/cardigan/tshirt - its almost like they couldn't be bothered ![]() Although I agree with him not wearing the exact same clothes all the time (so unrealistic after all) - they have always kept to a theme with swapping out shirts etc but kept the same recognisable look for each doctor. |

The thing that struck me was... imagine that was his outfit for series 8.

What I'm saying is, the smart look, does indeed look smart, but could also be interpreted as stuffy and making him look orderly and boring, whereas seeing him in a hoodie and t shirt, along with sonic sunglasses makes him look more fun and approachable before he's even said a word. That is why personally, I feel, whilst the outfit wouldn't have made that much difference overall, I do think in some part it may have contributed to those who turned off after series 8 giving him more of a chance (although obviously the downer personality of series 8 was probably the biggest factor). At any rate, whilst I think we'll still see the smart look from time to time, and almost certainly on his regeneration episode, I think they will want to keep it as the hoodie look most of the time now. |

Heres a random thought.....
Ive normally bought the Dr Who calendar. Did so every year apart from the 2015 one as it just contained the pre-series publicity stills for the 12th Doctor - no episode pictures of course as the 2014 series started late summer and too late for the print run of the next years calendar. So this year's 2016 calendar is slightly better but still steers clear of episode pictures as again the series didn't air before the calendar was produced. So..... What on earth are they going to fill the 2017 calendar with?! Seeing as its out around October - there wont be anything at all! No point filling it with pictures from series 9 as that would be a distant memory! |

For a lot of those that watch the show but don't define themselves as fans, I doubt whether they'll really notice a longer break between series, tbh. If they're like me with, say, something like 'Endeavour'. I like it. I watch it when it's on, but don't buy DVDs or look on the internet for production details. Just see a preview and think, oh good, it's back. I'll catch that!
Also it's not the audience grabber it once was (for a number of reasons - different ways of watching; I'm a massive fan and I now don't think twice about missing an episode most Saturday nights -or even by a couple of days if I'm away; as I can watch on IPlayer). But even that taken into consideration the audience has dropped - lack of good promotion, the previous audience has grown up, 10 years worth has dimmed the novelty etc. The biggest issue though is I do think its not aimed at UK families in the way it once was. The audience is growing internationally but that's fans like us in a bigger pond so it will attract more. The casual audience is down so (as stated above) I think it will take a lot more than a short break to get it back on track. It is a shame the new showrunner wasn't brought in after the break as "The all new Doctor Who" would have had a lot of weight. |

I hated the hoodie and I'm hoping he ditches that and keeps the red velvet (as a big lover of Pertwee's Doctor I approve). I loved the longer, scruffier hair though as it gave him a bit of that wild look, which goes well with that maddening, Baker-esque glare in his eyes.

What on earth are they going to fill the 2017 calendar with?! Seeing as its out around October - there wont be anything at all! No point filling it with pictures from series 9 as that would be a distant memory! Can't see why they can't have pics from the upcoming season (as long as they aren't too spoilery), calendars based on upcoming films do it all the time. Class will also be out about then so it's possible something from that might get included especially if there's any characters/monsters that have appeared in DW already. |

Where as a new fresh take with that flare that writers have when they are first starting their program/era with Capaldi as the anchor to past continuity and a new companion to get invested in, it could of been a great new push for DW and its popularity/creativity. But who knows, I can only speak for myself and say that as a fan of DW I'm disinterested in series 10 because its another series of Moffat in charge, he's done to many, should of left with Matt, or series 8 or definitely series 9, but I appreciate that he's probably stayed on because the BBC hadn't got a replacement which is a failure of management on their side and have compromised a hit show by leaving it in the hands of people who are burned out. |

Most of my friends actually think it's been cancelled. I'm that annoyed with the whole stupid situation that I haven't bothered correcting them.
If they took a year off on Corrie everyone would go completely batsh*t. |

Many drama series are on once a week for 6 or 12 weeks (with some taking a break of 18 months to 2 years in between series - cf. Line of Duty - only 6, yes 6 episodes, Last Tango in Halifax - again 6 episodes, with S4 delayed) See the difference? |

These splits are just dumb especially for something thats 12 episodes now american shows that go 20 - 30 episodes id understand but not 12 week run. |
