Alex was a 'cut above' the others on BB.
Loved him.

We had lunch at Sugar Hut which was actually quite nice. We went to all the shops owned but he TOWIE lot. One was Gemma Collin's shop and she was in also. Gemma was the girl's favourite TOWIE character and said to me if i could come with her to get a picture. I said just go and ask for one, I'm sure she will have one taken with you. I have done so many in the past with fans. She went in with her step dad to be. They both came out and she had a huge smile on her face. The stepdad said to me that cost me £15 (not £12 as I thought until i was corrected this morning) as Gemma Collins said i had to buy something first. The cheapest thing was a crap tea cup with Essex written on.
Now we all said, if we knew we had to pay, we wouldn't have gone in there but when a 9 year old girl goes in and really wants a picture, you can't turn them down. Most girls want a pony and this is cheaper. Imagine if we told Gemma to go fu@k herself in front of the kid which i think we could have rightly done.
A lot of people on twitter have said we were mugs for paying for a mug that cost £15 to get a picture.
One day, my daughter will twist my arm. Do you understand now why the fee was paid now?”

Totally understand and good on you for coming on here.
Sincere good wishes to you. xx

Damn! I missed Alex, my all-time favourite BB housemate. Glad to hear he was still good value for money (unlike Gemma).

Bet you did feel like swearing at the crass obnoxious partronising self-absorbed c*w - but the little girl went away happy so that's what counted.
Through gritted teeth and a forced smile for everyone else.

What's her refund policy???
Would she not just allow you to purchase a 5p carrier bag? .... Still not sure that would of been good value for what you got in return though

In what way does Alex's account differ from the original claim?

He has corrected the price and merely added detail so I don't understand what you mean.

This happened to one of my friends too who went in to her shop and was told if she wanted a picture she would have to buy something. She refused told her to f off and walked out and never liked her since. Said she was such a rude diva. I can totally understand why Alex's friend paid if it was for a child but as an adult wanting a picture I wouldn't buy anything (or would get it refunded straight away just to piss her off) I would tell her a few home truths.

I must admit though Skyrah, I hadn't realised it had involved walking into her place of work and asking for one either... I'm loathe to defend the woman, she's a horror-show... But if this was a regular occurrence, people just coming in, asking for a picture and then leaving, whilst she's busy trying to run a shop... Um... I think I might get a bit fed up as well

To be honest when I first heard the claim I had assumed someone had stopped her on the street and she'd been, "twelve pounds please!"

I do think this is a tad different now.

this is on the basis that the shop is 'very' busy , which it probably is not.

She should have a sign up saying no photos then if it's all such an inconvenience for her, but she'll do anything for a few quid

yes I can just see all the haterz happy to allow the GBP into their workplace for pics

BIB. Which is how it should be.

I am disgusted that GC charged via buying a mug. I would have had a quite word with her as I would not give in to (harsh use of word) her blackmail.

I would have explained to my child why I had refused as at 9 years old they should be able to understand why.

Alex I loved you in bb but parents get ripped off every day, go to a theme park and pay over the odds for food, buy an official t shirt with pic of fave pop group will cost more that's life I'm afraid. I'm of older generation who did say the word no to kids if something was over the score. If you did the Towie tour and it only cost £15 don't think that's too bad. Btw is the price for lunch at sugar hut bumped up a bit because of its association with Towie I know friends of mine spent a small fortune there when at a hen do but not sure if that's normal for that area.

No I wasn't really thinking about how busy the shop was... More that it's her workplace. No more than that really.

i can't see her even being there every day, as that would require getting out of bed 5 days a week, and alternate Saturdays , and she hates working , and moving.

Its her business, a shop that she was only in a position to open because people knew her from TOWIE. That is the basis on which she gets the punters in the door, do you think big women go in there to buy clothes like Gemma's
As I posted on another thread if Gemma was the businesswoman she claims to be then she would quickly realise the most efficient way to get people to part with their cash is to smile for the selfies and have GC branded products at various price points/age groups placed on display. Most people will buy something so long as you aren't blatantly, charmlessly scalping them.
Its not a market stall, its a shop so if you get the footfall people will spend. Gemma is too thick, lazy and greedy to see this and is actually killing her brand with the bad will she is generating. Its short-termism at its worst and proves this whole GC/Gemma thing is nonsense, she really is the greedy, nasty lump that she comes across as on all the reality shows she does. That is whats costing her money.

So she got a photograph and a mug for £15. Not bad. If she was big enough a fan to want a photograph you would have thought that she would appreciate the mug too..
