My partner and myself have iphones, he has only recently got an iphone 4 secondhand.

We both have whatsapp, which works to contacts but not to each other. Trying to set this up from the same house, same wifi but with different sim cards.

Was really hoping to get this working but am baffled why it won't work between these 2 particular phones.

Any ideas please?

Have you tried putting your phone numbers in the contacts list?

Yes, tried that. Should have said that we can facetime each other and message too, also skype works.

It's just whatsapp that isn't communicating between the 2 phones.

Might be worth uninstalling it on both phones and then reinstalling.

Strange that it will work to other contacts?

Has one of you blocked another?

What happens when you try to send a message? One tick? Two ticks? Zero?

Willtry the messaging tomorrow and will report back

Just posting back to say all is sorted now, in the end I deleted whatsapp from one phone, reinstalled it and it works well between the two phones.
