Anna Karen criticises Social Services
Anna Karen, Eastenders Aunt Sal has criticised the London Borough of Redbridge for failing to provide her with a bed!, I am sure Miss Karen has made enough money to buy her own bed.
Something tells me that Karen is somewhat a difficult person just like Aunt Sal herself! |

Just because she's been on the telly it doesn't make her rich. She apparently needs a specialist bed, that cannot be cheap, I hope she recovers soon.

Well she has been in more than just the occasional appearance in EE, so I don't expect her to be that hard up unless she is no good with money and has wasted it.

I bet she played the "do you know who I am?" card when talking to them too.

This thread is in poor taste in my opinion.
I very much doubt the odd appearance on eastenders is enough for someone to live on for years! Plus social services are meant to help folk with equipment when they are injured/disabled etc so why should she be treated differently just because she has been in a few episodes of EE |

I'm assuming she has not had much work in between On The Buses and her odd appearances in East Enders. |

Care costs can run into hundreds, if not thousands of pounds per week.
Even a high earner would use everything up pretty quickly. |

Since she started acting in 1969 she's had very few roles so no she won't be well off from the acting work.

What an awful thread! picking on an elderly woman who is suffering from bad disabilities in her later life. No wonder this country is now so selfish.
Care beds can cost thousands and in most cases there are a small number of them available at any giving time by medical services. You certainly can't just buy them as the OP puts it. The NHS is in crisis because of lack of government funding and we have an aging population which means they are stretched to the limit, the more people who raise this the better. Lets hope karma doesn't bite any of you on the ass in yours or one of your family members hour of need for casting stones. |

I doubt she would worry about me if I was hard-up, so I'm not going to worry about her.

Well they assess every case on it's merits so if they consider her not eligible for help she will just have to like it or lump it like everyone else does.

She's not asking you to, she's asking social services to help her.

I realise this thread is in bad taste, so I apologise for it. I am going to ask the mods to close it. My apologise to Anna Karen and all.

Maybe Anna should get in touch with 'The Actors Benevolent Fund'. They are very good at helping artistes who maybe have fallen on hard times. That's what they are there for.

Sadly many councils are struggling with all the cuts to local government budgets.
