Anna Karen, Eastenders Aunt Sal has criticised the London Borough of Redbridge for failing to provide her with a bed!, I am sure Miss Karen has made enough money to buy her own bed.
Something tells me that Karen is somewhat a difficult person just like Aunt Sal herself!

Just because she's been on the telly it doesn't make her rich. She apparently needs a specialist bed, that cannot be cheap, I hope she recovers soon.

Well she has been in more than just the occasional appearance in EE, so I don't expect her to be that hard up unless she is no good with money and has wasted it.

I bet she played the "do you know who I am?" card when talking to them too.

This thread is in poor taste in my opinion.

I very much doubt the odd appearance on eastenders is enough for someone to live on for years!

Plus social services are meant to help folk with equipment when they are injured/disabled etc so why should she be treated differently just because she has been in a few episodes of EE

There is way more to her acting career than just EE.

Exactly, unless one is very careful with their money and spends it wisely then even celebs will run out of money if they are not getting regular work and many celebs have gone bankrupt over the years.

Anna Karen's worked in On The Buses well over 40 years ago and has made the odd appearance in EE, no way would she be able to live properly off the back of those parts. I'm assuming she has not had much work in between On The Buses and her odd appearances in East Enders.

Care costs can run into hundreds, if not thousands of pounds per week.
Even a high earner would use everything up pretty quickly.

Since she started acting in 1969 she's had very few roles so no she won't be well off from the acting work.

I doubt she would worry about me if I was hard-up, so I'm not going to worry about her.

What an awful thread! picking on an elderly woman who is suffering from bad disabilities in her later life. No wonder this country is now so selfish.

Care beds can cost thousands and in most cases there are a small number of them available at any giving time by medical services. You certainly can't just buy them as the OP puts it. The NHS is in crisis because of lack of government funding and we have an aging population which means they are stretched to the limit, the more people who raise this the better.

Lets hope karma doesn't bite any of you on the ass in yours or one of your family members hour of need for casting stones.

I have no worries about karma for the simple fact there is no such thing.

She's not asking you to, she's asking social services to help her.

Well they assess every case on it's merits so if they consider her not eligible for help she will just have to like it or lump it like everyone else does.

Plenty of people get refused help from social services what makes her so special.

I hope you're not in that position when you're elderly

Some of us make provisions for when we are elderly.

I realise this thread is in bad taste, so I apologise for it. I am going to ask the mods to close it. My apologise to Anna Karen and all.

Maybe Anna should get in touch with 'The Actors Benevolent Fund'. They are very good at helping artistes who maybe have fallen on hard times. That's what they are there for.

Sadly many councils are struggling with all the cuts to local government budgets.

That's true so there will be a lot of people having to go without what they need not just her.

Wasting your time with the likes of that poster. No leeway with them. They only understand black and white. Everyone and everything must be the same as them.
