Help-My Homechoice has died
alphaharps
27-04-2005
Last night, i went to watch Homechoice. and it crashed.

I turned it off, waited , and turned it on again. It showed the Homechoice Logo, went to the bit where i log in and died again. It kept on doing this.

Anyone else had a similar thing happen. Is it bad?

I suggest you ring customer services and book yourself a new box, hasnt happened to me but it sounds pretty dead.

The weird thing is, my broadband connection is working fine

It's a common problem with the boxes. Mine's done this and been replaced already.

ok cool. how long does it take for them to replace it?

Do they just post it?

I would imagine that they would have to send an engineer out again. You woud be best to ask all of this to Customer services

You have to book an engineer visit to replace the box. They should come within a couple of working days. I'm on my third in 8 months! The internet usually still works even though there's no TV, it's a common fault.

Got to say i'm impressed, I phoned this morning, and the engineer is coming round tomorrow. Well done Homechoice

Blimey! That is quick!

Sounds like HC have a problem with their STBs then if this is happening a lot, roll-out a new version of the STB I say!

Last I heard was that a new version of the box - with Audio-out connectors - was due by the summer

I think I'm on my 5th within that period!

The last engineer I had (Monday just gone) told me that China had failed to install high enough powered PSUs in the boxes but that they're OK now. But I keep being told "it'll be all right now".

You're lucky, Alphaharps, that your internet's working. When my TV went down I rebooted the box and then couldn't get anything whatsoever.

Fortunately HC's service is much quicker nowadays, I've had to wait 2 weeks in the past .

Similar tail of woah (I'm allowed to misspell on the internet).

8 STBs here, plus they left me with no TV for 10 days...over Xmas.

My STB has just died. Phoned up at 10.30pm last night (Wed), coming round at 3-5pm Friday. Which isn't bad.
