EE trying to make characters in the wrong look sympathetic?
Several characters have played the victim card in their words/tears. I've noticed this in the past couple of weeks. I'd like to think the writers are doing it to make us dislike them because that's been my reaction.
Kush's attempt to make himself look like a victim of his own one night stand just to force Shabnam to stay with him. She should be more like her mum and give him hell. Whitney for the ENTIRE last week by bringing back Ryan, then crying about the stolen money despite taking him to the Vic and of course making the moves on Mick. Jane with her pathetic tears for harmless Bobby being dumped at a boarding school and again forgetting that Max Branning even exists. Of course the little brat himself shed a tear and he knows what he has done. He is 12, not exactly a baby. For such an important family in EE, the Beales are sickening at the moment. |

They do this a lot on EE, characters in the wrong are made to look like the victim and characters in the right are usually portrayed negatively. If a character every informs the police about someone else they're always made look like the bad guy regardless of what crimes the other character committed.

McBeale of course. They seem to have overlooked that, objectively, she is a more heinous criminal than the likes of Archie, Gavin, Den, Phil, Johnny Allen, and Kane put together.

They do it with so many of them
Jane did a horendous thing, dumping her step daughter on the common, lied to everyone and let an innocent man go to prison. Now we're meant to feel sorry for her heartbreak at losing her son. Phil. Numerous crimes, the latest being his bribing of the jury to make sure Max went down. Yet now we're meant to feel sorry that he's dying. Stacey lying to Martin about the baby, but now she is ill and could lose her child. Shabnam. Abandoned her baby and didn't want her back in her life, treated Kush like dirt, rejecting him over and over again. But once she'd lost her baby and found she couldn't have any more we all have to feel sorry for her. Kathy. Abandoned her children and let them believe she was dead for years. But we're meant to feel sorry for her because she was married to nasty zippo man. Sharon, who played her part in sending Max to prison. Poor thing is married to a criminal and alcoholic ( which she knew all along), and her marriage is over (again). The only person I feel sorry for ATM is Martin. But that's not to say I don't find Shab's and Stacey's individual cases to be very sad. |

No, that is trumped by the Beales. By a country mile (and more).

Shirley's not been a great mum all these years, is crude and rough around the edges, but deep down isn't as morally bankrupt as the Beales. |

BIB - I don't feel bad for Phil at the moment one bit. Not only was he driving the car when Denny got injured, he has treated his family appallingly and in a weird way his current condition feels a bit like karma for the way he bribed the foreman of the jury to find Max guilty.

Agreed. He deserves all the pain he gets. I actually wish this atory was his death and end this "Philith Survives again" bullshit. I hope he has a long painful death scene being forced to watch a tape of ben qnd "insert boyfriend at the times name here" having sex and entirely rejected.
He certainly does not deserve to have a loving family fussing around him recently as he has - over the years - treated every single one of them like something that he had just scraped off his shoe. Or worse. We all know he will be up and about beating up Kovalev and Golovkin within a few days. Thus this storyline thus has no tension or emotional impact whatsoever. |

I was annoyed the way that the audience was being told to feel sorry for Jane. Thing was so many on here did with the response it's what any mother would do. WTF. |

You often in life people who do bad things are actually good people.
Good people make bad decisions That doesn't make them evil or a villain Life isn't black or white Whitney and Kush are decent people who made the wrong decision. Jane is a good woman and a loyal mother. She acted out of pure desperation That doesn't make her a villain or evil. Sick of the morality police on here acting judge, jury and executioner |

Shirley shot a man in cold blood, blackmailed her way into the family business, tried to drown two of her sons, punched a recovering cancer patient in the face, led a campaign of terror against a victim of rape, and is still presented as a victim. She also abandoned her kids at a very young age, but the story was extensively rewritten when her extended family arrived to present her as the victim.
Dean raped somebody and spent an entire year moping round the Square with sad puppy eyes complaining about how hard is life was. Stacey has destroyed no less than three marriages (four if you include her own to Bradley) and is a master at playing the victim card to get out of a tough situation. |

So you think leaving max in jail knowing he's innocent is the act of a good person ?

Shirley is the biggest victim in the show so we are meant to sympathise with her. I feel nothing for her
. Agree with Bass.
