I'm feeling a bit about this.

I used to live in a Regency house and my main front room had a much stronger blue/green ceiling, white coving, and same colour down to the picture rail.

The rest white, with a restored wooden floor, herringbone parquet, quite pale, William Morris curtains on the two arched windows, and a pair of red persian rugs.

It looked LOADS better than any of these, and it cost very little as I was broke at the time.

I cut the curtains down, they were ten years old anyway, the walls were white because the paint was cheaper, the rugs were gifts and a mate help me restore the floor.

I got a repro fifties sideboard in 'regency' style for fifty quid in a charity shop and some pictures up and it was sort of fab.

I moved though.

I doubt anyone who is 'broke' lives in a regency house, or has fifty quid to spend on a sideboard, charity shop or no.

My how the other half 'does poverty'.

Herringbone parquet - would love to have a house that that floor was hiding in!

Must admit it's one thing I've never liked for some reason, now show me a tessellated tiled entrance hall
