I like the look of that, but it costs $30 after the 30 day free trial. Audacity has a timer but you have to record either the line in or the sound card output. VLC records the internet stream but has no timer.

An issue for recording streams is the file format. If you record an mp3 stream in VLC then you end up with an mp3 file that is easy to edit in Audacity or mp3directcut. But if you record an AAC+ stream, for example like Radio 2 320 kbps, then you end up with .ts file which I don't seem to be able to anything with. Do you know how to edit those kinds of files?

talkSPORT uses mp3 so if talkRADIO uses the same then there won't be a problem.
I liked Net Transport so didn't mind paying for it, as for converting different file formats I use mediacoder audio addition and haven't had any trouble with audio files.

It's a marvelous idea Shortwave
Hopefully they will have an archive
But with red tape these days I'm wondering if they might need clearance from callers ??
If so it'd be unworkable
I'm still intrigued we've not got the full complement of presenters announced
Iain did make mention of some surprises
I'm wondering if there are any BBC presenters or one at LBC finishing their contracts before coming aboard
I was in America just now and I was talking to someone who said Howard Stern has a show hosted with his production team without him which is a request show for past features and interviews. His show is a zoo format same as Chris Moyles here and apparently is very popular.

LBC - I would like Olly Mann to join. I prefer his fun side that he does with AMT and he has done some brilliant interviews on his modern Mann podcast recently especially with a prisoner where as his LBC show is too political which puts me off listening to him

Yes I've been on air with Olly on several occasions
I think he would be a good fit
But almost sure it's only been a few weeks since he signed a new contract
And yes totally agree Olly has been globalised
Just now and again you get the fun side of him
It's the same with Ian Collins and Clive Bull
It's been noted by many that the odd lighter element is creeping into the daily topic list again
I'm thinking they are getting a wee bit worried as launch day approaches

Would he be allowed to do both? Although not in either companies best interest but if he is only doing Friday and Saturday on LBC could he do Monday-Thursday on Talk Radio similar to Tony Blackburn being all over the dial?

Although with such successful podcasts would he want to do this? he does have a new baby and financially it would be better to put the podcasts aside for a moment.

Not sure on that one
Bauer media who own Magic seem much more amenable to that kind of thing that Global
I know at one stage Tony was doing BBC London Magic and Smooth but I think that was in Guardian Media days before Global got their paws on it
It certainly would be a help to him if they did

I don't think they'd need permission from callers to replay old calls-- LBC often post calls up on their website and when they used to have anbest of NF show that had callers on it. I guess when you ring up, your permission to reuse the material is assumed? I guess the bigger question would be did they keep archived matterial? I'd be surprised if they don't have some 'best of' shows over the weekend as schedule fillers. the best of Iain Lee for example could fill a couple of hours.

I've been thinking recently, I'd love to hear Bill Buckley on Talk Radio. he used to do a great overnight show on LBC and from things he's said was shabberly treated by them when he left. reckon he could go well either in the afternoon (1-4 PM) or sometime over the weekend.

I keep in touch with Bill and his better half on a fairly regular basis
I'd dearly love to have him back but he does seem very settled with the BBC gigs that he has

Iain Lee's former producer Katherine Boyle has tweeted that it's her last day at BBC Three Counties tomorrow, leading to much speculation on Twitter...

Any news or rumours on the rest of the line up yet? I wouldn't be surprised to see Justin Lee Collins pop up on there some time.

I so hope that this is more than just a coincidence timing-wise...

I thought he was still persona non grata after his conviction. Or has that changed now?

On his show today (Bill Buckley) announced he is leaving BBC Radio Devon. So not unsure where he is going to. Heard somewhere he may end up on BBC Radio Berkshire. Is that the station Paul Ross is leaving to go to TalkRadio?

Very talented actor
His story about his time in the Philippines and Imelda Marcos was inspired
I think he also voiced Powder Puff in the old Ian Collins creatures of the night show
Just struck me you DO know he's an actor don't you ??

Still on Fubar. He deserves better. He's made mistakes and served the penalty. He needs a proper gig now.

Yes I did, and a drag artist too.

Barry from Watford was also an actor (Alex Lowe), he was most annoyed that Larry was doing his shtick.

Me too, Nikki Bedi is taking over from Paul Ross, but she's so busy with World Service & Loose Ends (why she left her late night weekend shows) I doubt she'll hang around for long.

Just given that a go and it is very useful, thanks. Also I've found tsmuxer to extract the audio from the .ts file to get the AAC audio file on its own, which means that the high quality stream is kept at the same quality. Hopefully talkRADIO will have an mp3 stream to make things easy for everyone who wants to record.

LBC shows are still available at the LBC website, and at no charge. I did upload the Absolute shows that weren't on the website but the hosting has lapsed.

Ah, I see. Well if it is just a case of flipping switch ie it's all still there, I am more than happy to pay for a months hosting in order to get my hands on the Absolute bad boys!

I think all copyright of contributors calls are retained by the broadcaster.
But rights issues aside I believe it would make a great 1 to 2 hour show perhaps early weekend evenings maybe fronted by a former host from its previous incarnation.

Actually I only put them onto Google Drive for people to download them for a short time and I thought the links had stopped working but I just checked a few links and they still seem to work:

http://radamfi.blogspot.co.uk/

However shows after 13 September 2009 are not available because Absolute told me not to upload them, and those shows were available from the Absolute website. But not any more it seems.
