They went to the pub after the show on Friday so after a few drinks they decided that Cornelius would prank call Galloway by saying the words to a Black Eyed Peas song which sound vaguely like a call someone would make to a news based phone-in.

George let him do his piece, then said he knew it wasn't a normal phone call right from the start, but still addressed one of the questions in the lyrics.
thanks for going in depth and clearing that all up radamfudyfgi

Bizarrely, George Galloway blocked @talkRADIO on Twitter!

@talkRADIO Tweeted a recording of Cornelius' prank call to George's show on Friday, which resulted in the following Twitter exchange, culminating in George blocking @talkRADIO.

I wonder if Jud went round last night and 'sorted him'.

At the end of yesterday's show he said "we'll be back tomorrow 1 till 4". There's nothing on Jon Holmes' Twitter although Con joked something about Jon being in a Pantomime.

So it's been announced this morning that James Whale is leaving the BBC.
After popping up on a few shows on talkRADIO recently do we think there's a chance he may join full time now?

Good to hear Jon Holmes back this afternoon, always wonder when he is off if they'll let him back 😃
Getting Victoria to find news stories on different subjects reminds me of Nick Abbot's evening show on the original TalkRADIO.

Jon said it on the show on Tuesday.

After the Twitter exchange, Jon and/or his team tried to reply from the talkRADIO account but it was blocked. If one was a conspiracy theorist, you might put two and two together and think that this prank earned Jon a one day suspension as he wasn't in on Wednesday and nobody said why as far as I know, other than jokey reasons.

Thanks for the reply.

I have to say i agree with GG's stance on this, at the end of the day talkRADIO is supposed to be a serious radio station, i am sure GG puts great effort into his show in terms of preparation, organjsing guests etc.

Pranking a radio station was something i used to do when i was 12 years old, it just shows the childish mentality of some of the staff their, you would think other people will be now encouraged to prank call the mother of all talk shows.

Can you imagine someone working at LBC or 5live pranking their own radio station?

I am sure it would not be accepted.

Who said talkRADIO is supposed to be a serious radio station? Some shows are serious and some are light, some are a mix of light and serious and some are neither light or serious (e.g. the property or car shows).

Serious in the respect of not pranking your colleagues show.

Serious in the respect of presenters being professional with each other on twitter, not blocking one another, GG has blocked a couple of talkRADIO colleagues I am sure, Juliet Hartley Brewery being 1.

Just seems extremely childish and unprofessional, again you would not get this kind of behaviour on LBC or 5live.

I see inter-presenter rivalry and relations between presenters as a very interesting and entertaining part of the station. We used to have this on LBC in the David Lloyd era where there were a number of feuds. Some fake and some real.

I realise you are a big GG fan but by your argument, GG is being "unprofessional" by possibly blocking JHB. JHB has blocked Iain Lee. This is all part of the fun. Jon making GG suffer a little ditto. GG, by allowing the initial prank call to continue to the end and then participating in the subsequent Twitter banter has contributed nicely to Jon's show and therefore entertained me and others as a result.

Galloway doesn't have a stance just blocks anyone on Twitter with a different viewpoint to his own or anyone ( in this case ) who makes him look Stupid . Ian Dale on LBC is an example of someone he has blocked for challenging him

it was a bit of fun, yes people like Galloway and his fans can be pompous about it but that 5 minutes of radio was more entertaining than the rest of GG's show. Also, the call didn't have any effect on GG's 'preparation' it wasn't on instead of a guest, it was at a time when GG was taking calls from the listener. lets face it, the station gets so few calls they should be grateful! Lets face it, GG has done the most unproffessional thing on Talk Radio by balling out his producer on air but I'm sure his fans will say thats fine because its just George... IaIn pranked talksport on his second or third night and no-one moaned about it on hear. GG's fans can be quite precious.

JOB has tweeted things about Hopkins and he has also mentioned his dislike for her on air. Hopkins has done the same back on air.

yes, and thats the difference. those 2 genuinely dislike each other and are letting it show on air whereas Jon Holmes was just having a laugh. Yes it was a bit childish but we don't all want our radio to be stuffy and boring if we did, we'd listen to bbc local radio... just kidding but you get my point. I think if Jon starting pranking GG every week thenthat would be out of order but it was a 1-off and, to be fair, GG hadnled it really well at the time before his true colors showed through later on social media.

On Friday's show, they read out a lot of complaints/abuse from George Galloway fans during "Con-descending" which is the usual weekly feature where they read out the week's complaints from the haters.

They finished the show with George Galloway's famous rant at the producer when he threatened to put down his "earphones" and leave, as someone requested it as part of "Some Request Friday".

The prank call on GG was played out today on 7 Days of talkRADIO. Kath said "And this is the moment that got the whole station unfollowed by George Galloway on Twitter, and no I'm not even joking."

Should all stations be like LBC and 5Live then? That would be extremely boring and dull if everything was the same. A bit like LBC and 5Live on the whole are dull.

Maybe Galloway should go back to dressing up as a cat on a trash TV show, that's far more high brow!

People are surprised that Jon Holmes pranks and makes fun of colleagues?

They obviously have not listened to him often.

No, but stations can be more entertaining without presenters undermining their colleagues with childish pranks.
