No, but stations can be more entertaining without presenters undermining their colleagues with childish pranks.

whereas its obviously far more proffessional for presenters to slag each other off on air as JOB and Katie Hopkins have done. nothing childish about that at all...

It's great to hear talkRADIO's listening figures reported at 224,000 which is pretty healthy considering the station had no major advertising. Personally I had guessed it would be around the 200,000 mark so it was better than I had expected. Prediction for the next rajar release should be near the 300,000 mark. Weekends do need an major overhaul possibly something that will happen in the future. James Whale should also be given a permanent gig also as he would bring over a very healthy fan base.

I haven't listened to TalkRadio for weeks, until this afternoon. James Whale is on and so far he has been brilliant entertainment.

I love a good gossip and think in 2 months time James Whale will be on talkRADIO Monday to Thursday 2200-0100. In turn I predict Iain Lee will move to either Monday to Thursday 1900-2200 or Friday to Saturday 2200-0100.
I can see talkRADIO simulcasting the 2200-0100 slot on talkSPORT Monday to Sunday sometime in the future too. Watch this space .

TalkSPORT is a massive brand and they won't jepodise that for talkRADIO. You only have to listen to the two mikes overnight they brand it pretty much completely as talkSPORT. The phone number is theirs, they say "This is talksport" and apart from the out of break there is no mention of talkRADIO. |

James Whale should do drive permanently. After today it should be two Sams sacked in a day.
That is if James Whale doesn't successfully apply for the England job. |

Jon was part of his own Diversity Paper Review today when today's diversity, Josh, read out the news that Jon and Mitch Benn have been axed from Radio 4's "The Now Show".
Incredibly, and with the greatest irony, the Now Show want to "recast with more women and diversity". I wonder if the BBC realise that Jon presents the most diverse radio show in Britain, if not the world. So diverse that it would make Lenny Henry tent peg inside his Premier Inn duvet. |

Yes I agree James Whale would be great in the 10 till 1 time slot. I wouldn't be surprised if the bosses are considering bringing him on back board permanently. He would be very popular he's certainly a good listen and would help to drive the listening figures further up. One other thing I would very much love is for the bosses to give Tommy Boyd a show at the weekend.

The current 22:00 - 01:00 is best show they have got, I can't see why anyone would want to change it. I think it's more likely James would do mid morning or Drive.

I'm enjoying James Whale so much more than Sam Delaney. I have tried, but I just can't get into SD at all.

Can anyone else see the fatal flaw in a national radio station having a cockney motormouth on breakfast and a cockney motormouth on drivetime? James Whale is well known around the country, and, like a chameleon, can be from Yorkshire when he wants, or Wales, or Surrey, or London or wherever else. Most station launch schedules look remarkably different two years later. It almost makes you feel sorry for the first wave of presenters. It's really no coincidence that James Whale has popped-up on TalkRadio at the same time he walks away from regular work on the BBC. I would be very happy to hear him do a late night show again. I have absolutely no expectation for Tommy Boyd to ever appear as a presenter on TalkRadio, but I think the odds would improve a little if James Whale became a regular presenter. I wonder if Mike Dickin would have been part of the schedule, were he still alive? Perhaps a weekend show. I can't imagine him doing weekday mornings at that age. Peter Deeley (ex-LBC and the original TalkRadio UK) is somehow still alive. I wonder if he'd ever be tempted back into a studio? Quote:

Jon played a couple of clips from yesterday's James Whale show on his show today.
The first was where James said he had heard the way Jon spoke to Victoria and James said he was "disgusted." The second was where Victoria felt James' head to check if it bald. Jon said it was the "talk of the station." |

Yes after thinking about I agree with Billy it would be best to leave Iain Lee's show at 10pm it's obviously doing very well, so there is no point in throwing a spanner in the works by changing it to a different slot. Whale replacing Delaney does sound a very good idea as from what I can gather Delaney isn't all that great a presenter. We can all but hope the brilliant Mr Boyd will get a weekend show in the not too distant future.
