There's no way they can know that there is an "unbelievable spike in listeners", as Galloway only started on 24 June and the latest RAJAR covers the period from March to June. They should know the number of people streaming online, but that cannot be used as a proxy for listening figures as they don't know the split between online and DAB which may vary by show.

Has a station ever disclosed how many streaming listeners they get before the RAJAR covering that period comes out?

I'm happy to hear Presenter's views, provided they are informed. Sadly this is not always the case. Jonny Gould is a bitter disappointment as a general presenter, and should stick to Sport. Likewise Ash. His absurd voices are not in the least entertaining, and why he drones on regularly with a Soap Update is a mystery? Presumably people tuning in between 7-10pm do so because they'd rather listen to Radio than watch crap TV, which includes the Soaps?

Ian Abrahams was another let down on Breakfast this morning. He is supposedly a Sports journo? Yet on National Poetry Day he did not know that his "favourite poem" "If" is inscribed on the changing room at Wimbledon. "Really?" was his response to Paul Ross informing him. By Sports journo, they mean Football, like the whole of talkSport.

I seem to remember Absolute may have done when they operated the onegoldensquare.com blog. It goes to Bauer's corporate page now.

This week, The Two Mikes are in for Jon Holmes Monday to Thursday. Jon is back on Friday.

James Whale and Ash are doing 7-10pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

IMO the main problem with listening to TalkRadio is the platform it is on. It's not widely available. I couldn't even listen online via my Android tablet when it first started. I think people who are interested try then give up and tune elsewhere. My Pure personal DAB broke and I had to buy a new one so made sure I bought the newer model to get DAB+ and hear Talk, but it wasn't cheap.”

I have a PURE The Bug which is eleven years old & when I retuned initially, I could not get TalkRadio, but when I changed the setting in the menu to 'REST OF THE WORLD' from 'UK' & then retuned, TalkRadio appeared.

I know its probably been said before but the best of shows on Saturday night really seem like two wasted slots. It is no contest between a "best of" on Talkradio and Lucy Beresford on LBC for me. I enjoy the two Mikes but fresh content wins for me, I just struggle to enjoy a best of.

They've just been talking about talkRADIO on the Jerry Springer show.
"You know what? We're heard in England (sic)"
"Yes, we are"
"We just resigned with them. It's actually very cool"
"Yes, with talkRADIO in England (sic)"

As it's a fun listen.

Your choice of listening device of course has an "off" button. If this feature is disabled, please contact the device's manufacturer for assistance.

I agree that the station has no possible way of knowing what the RAJAR listening figures are for Galloway's show as you quite rightly stated. But they do have have access to live figures from the amount streaming via their own website and tunein etc. Obviously if there is a significant increase in streaming activity when his show comes on air you could assume there would also be an increase as a whole including those tuning in on DAB. Also I agree with you about the ratio between online and DAB listeners varying from show to show, but they can make a ball park guess using low estimations from existing information, then from that conclude that there must surely be an increase in listeners across all available platforms.

Because it's a cover show and I fell out of the habit of listening to the station a few months ago, I forgot to listen to James Whale tonight until nearly 9pm.

Did he start the show with the old music, and have there been any references to the old show with Ash?

I have to say, if Whale and the Two Mikes were daily shows, I'd certainly not fall out of the habit of listening. Much of the weekday schedule is poor.

I listened to the first hour, although not from the beginning. It was like a typical TalkRadio show, but with James Whale presenting in his usual style.

I didn't hear any callers. There were guests.
The
England football team are playing tonight so that may have a negative impact on the number of listteners.

The Whale lights the place up with his energy and his humour. talkRADIO should find him a regular slot. I was only able to tune in from 8.30 this evening so not sure about opening music. When he was on drive a few days ago he had Ash in there and they talked about the old days.

I usually only listen to the occasional Iain Lee show, but this week I've been listening from 1-4 (the Two Mikes are fantastic), then again from 7-1!

They should definitely keep this schedule... with someone else on drive and breakfast I could listen all day.

Please would someone post a working link to the James Whale podcast where he was standing in on Tuesday? I find TalkRadio's website nearly impossible to navigate. Cheers. James has said on Facebook there is a podcast available, but I can't find it.

I think you have to look up the desired programme on the "schedule" page and the link for listen again is next to each presenter name or show name. Try this:-

He didn't use his old theme, however, if he gets a full time gig it will no doubt be used as his opening bumper music. It will certainly be interesting to see / hear where they put him on the schedule IF and WHEN he does join as a regular presenter. I have an idea where they will put him...but...we will have to wait and see what happens.

Like Iain Lee and James Whale. 7 till 10pm is too early for me to listen to James Whale.

If Talk Radio could get rid of the dross on Saturday and Sunday, then a dream line up for me would be Iain Monday to Thursday 10 till 1 am and James Whale Friday Saturday and Sunday. Or the other way round.

Like the supernatural and all that but the Howard Hughes show makes me nod off. Must be his soothing voice.

The Two Mikes, Iain Lee, James Whale, Julia Hartley-Brewer and George Galloway are a very strong combination. Listening to more of the station than ever at the moment. Loving James Whale tonight. This is how speech radio should be done - C

I rather liked the idea of the magazine 'appointment to listen' shows, on specialist topics.

However...

- The weekends are filled with too many repeats

- I'm not sure the specialist topics have the legs to put out good 3-hour shows in the long term. This includes the EH interviews, where the people he's had on so far have been largely very disappointing and certainly not worth the full show.

On the other hand, Jake Yapp is excellent and I think the paranormal show will likely attract quite a dedicated audience and at least it's quite varied.
