A show that finishes at 1am midweek is a bit too late for me so I have to record the show and listen next day. I suppose everyone is different, they should make the listen again feature more user friendly and have podcasts of the whole shows to download and listen to again offline.

It was an absolute joy to listen to James Whale last night on TalkRadio. He's one of a dying breed of brilliant presenters who get the balance exactly right. He should be snapped up by the station full time. Classic talk radio from one of the leading presenters.

James Whale stands out from the rest. I hope they putt him on drive - the station's weakest slot.

On the show Tonight, he was accused of being racist, by a guy called Ian who was invited on to talk about Scotland and if they should have another refendum.

The guy said to James and Ash who were they, They ended up cutting this Ian guy off, but then this Ian, posted messages, and when the producer tried to contact this Ian guy, he said he would only come back on, if James and Ash said sorry. Because Ian thought James and Ash were being racist, about Scotland

James said he is Julia Hartley Brewer a couple of days next week

James Whale is sounding good - its a more relaxed listen compared to the last time I heard him which was on LBC.

The mid morning and drive slots should watch out!

Yes, he is.

However, I think I heard him try to drum up callers with an old chestnut - by winding up black cab drivers. And as of yet, it's not led to a single call. Maybe cabs don't have DAB radios, but it felt like a slightly desperate ploy. I remain concerned about listener figures and hope they properly invest in marketing to keep this station going.

I listened to the first hour of James Whale tonight. Another fantastic show. It is so much better than the shows that sound like a compilation album of interviews. Victoria needs to convert James to cycling.

At the end of the day...if talkRADIO was on 1053/1089am they WOULD be getting more callers. However, being fairly new and tucked away with many other digital stations, they won't get as many.

James Max in for Paul Ross all next week.

Iain and James Whale had a bit of a chat about it the other night while on periscope. James asked if it works (Periscope) and Iain said it did and many new listeners had found the station this way and would do anything he can to drum up more advertising for the station as they weren't marketing it.

They finished by saying that with the new bosses there was now a bigger budget so hoped they would market the station better.

A change to evenings, possibly for Whale to come back full time?

Rupert Murdoch is now the ultimate owner of talkRADIO. He's been subsidising losses at the Times and Sky News for many a year. But these are massive brands. Would he do the same for a a DAB-only radio station?

This sounds most promising. It could be time to abandon poor Clive Bull!

There must be other changes on Sunday too, given that 3-5pm is currently 7 Days of talkRADIO.

I think that Monday to Thursday evenings will be James Max or James Whale. Both quality presenters but Whale has the experience it needs. I've only listened to one of last week's evening shows so far he gets on with the producer Ed Swift which is always a good sign (which obviously George Galloway didn't have on that one occasion with his cover producer!)

In terms of the weekend schedule, I think that the property and car shows in particular are too niche and are never going to attract huge amounts of listeners. Also, what's happening with the Saturday late evening show? It's been Best of Iain Lee for a few weeks now and while Iain is a top presenters, if people missed the show they can listen to the full show on the website or to the podcast. In all honesty the Sunday schedule is weak from 11:00 to 19:00. I just don't know what will be cut for Jonny Gould. I've thought before that it could work to repeat 7 Days of talkRADIO on talkSPORT2. Although there is a danger of taking listeners from one station to another it may work if it increases overall listening to TWG stations.

Saturday night is best of Iain whilst Anna Williamson is on maternity leave.

I agree. It feels like talkRADIO is still on a bit of 'soft launch', even this far in, due to its poor weekend showing. Investing in more live shows is a good idea.

If a show becomes available personally I would like The Two Mikes to get it but I think it'll be Whale. The stars seem to be aligning that way - he recently left BBC Essex, the show available is co-hosted by his ex-producer/on-air foil.
