Oh how original. If you want to know what's in the papers I have a rather quaint old fashioned idea - BUY ONE!

I always find radio presenters who trawl through the daily rags incredibly lazy to be honest. It's kind of like stealing other people's work and passing it off as your own in a loose kind of way.
Surely if I bought one, that would only tell me what was in that particular newspaper? If I actually wanted to know what was in the newspapers I'd have to buy and read all of them, which could be a time consuming and slightly expensive habit. Also there'a a difference between reviewing newspapers and reading them.
Your point about radio presenters who use newspaper stories as content for their shows being akin to plagiarism makes no sense either.

talkRADIO has gone Halloween crazy. Shows that have been running the same trails since the station opened in March have got special Halloween themed trails.

Jon's doing a "Halloween special", meaning that it is Halloween and Cornelius is special. Jon's opening monologue today was spooky, spoken over a spooky bed. Iain's show tonight is coming from a haunted pub in Macclesfield.

0344 499 1000

is a regular national call so is included in mobile phone inclusive minutes and regular phone packages.

The phone number has also changed on the talkRADIO website.

Let's be clear from the start, I want talkRADIO to succeed, but they are making a list of fundamental BLUNDERS that is as long as my arm.

Getting that disgusting 08 phone number out of my face is at least one blunder rectified.

Lots more work to be done though, disappointing that they don't seem to have much of a grasp of it.

Yes. It is assumed he will be taking over from Jonny Gould when he moves to weekends.

I understand Jon Gaunt will be replacing Jonny Gould.

I guess his association with the Sun and the change in ownership of the radio group from UTV mean this is possible.

Of course it can.
Whether that assumption turns out to be right or not is a different matter.

That would be quite a shock, but I suppose your reasoning sounds plausible.

Do you have a source?

He's Marmite for sure but he WOULD pull in the listeners it's a certainty, he's despised by so many but if I'm honest I'd have him before James O'Brien please god they never set HIM on.

Thought I'd give the Ian Lee show another listen, turned it on just after the 00.00 news, wish I hadn't bothered

You cant judge his show on tonight's edition. Its not usually based on the paranormal from an apparently haunted pub in Macclesfield.

No way. Gaunt would have to swallow his pride to come back to a mainstream station. Otherwise he would appear to be a massive hypocrite and that just wouldnt do.

Respect the view you have of last night's show Sleeper but as pointed out already it was a one-off special from a pub celebrating Halloween night so allowances have to be made to be fair.
Were you listening on the radio or watching the Periscope live feed?, I only saw the first hour on Periscope and I enjoyed it and will watch the rest later today I find the show so much better viewing it on Periscope when they're doing 'a special'.

I agree yes he would be good for talkRADIO in my view, I don't like the bloke all that much let me make that clear but he's one of them people you love to hate a bit like Farage and Hopkins and both are swimming in listeners on LBC when they're on, Gaunt could do the same on talkRADIO.

In my opinion a good talk station should have a variety of voices in my opinion and that should include people you don't agree with. Divisive presenters gets calls, listeners and the station talked about – look at the LBC thread for the chat about James O’Brien.

Sometimes I find those I don’t agree with are a better listen as it challenges my viewpoint especially if they are good orators.

Jon Gaunt has got a fan base so could be an advantage to the station.

However I don’t see it happening for two reasons. Firstly Jon joining a linear radio station would go against everything he’s been building and doing since 2008.

Secondly despite the ownership change I believe the management has stayed the same – including one Scott Taunton who was also in charge in 2008.

BIG plus for the station.

This is the calibre of quality needed to dramatically improve the audience figures in the future, repeating myself again but the weekends need badly looking at soon.

JHB is hosting a soirée tonight to celebrate her and the station's good listening figures. Jon said his increase was the second best after JHB.
