Iain told us last night that Jake Yapp would be sitting in for him. Presumably (I thought) Iain was just having a night off because of some other commitment. Initially I thought this was fine as Jake and Kath were a good team the last time they were together, and of course for once there isn't a best of. But at the end of last night's show, Iain said he might be sleeping when the show is on. And it turns out it is going to be an election special.
A number of questions arise from this. Did Iain not want to do an election special, hence they had to get Jake in? Did the management tell Iain to have the night off because they prefer Jake to do the election special? Do we really need a US election special when the other speech stations are doing it? Perhaps the election will just be an additional theme tonight and you will still be able to phone in with whatever you want. |

You're right Billy244, but I guess Talk Radio have realised that they need to do this kind of thing (and they can do it in their style) in order to ever be taken seriously as a speech based radio station and to get listeners to come over from LBC etc.

Doing an election special in Iain's slot seems to go against everything he's said and practised since he started on talkRADIO so maybe he doesn't want to look an hypocrite by doing it and would sooner just sit it out. Personally speaking I definitely don't want it it'll be on every other speech station tonight so I wish he was just doing a normal show. And this is from someone who is really interested in politics these days.
I booked this off a few weeks ago. I'm looking after the kids tonight. |

This is James Whale's best show since rejoining TalkRadio so far.
He & Ash work so well together & picked up where they left off 8 years ago. I was thinking that the 7pm slot was a bit more of a serious slot & I was a bit worried that James & Ash together at that time might not work, but I now think that it's a great idea because it gives you another diverse choice. |

I've recently become a Talk Radio addict because of Julia Hartley-Brewer's show. I think it's fantastic! (Light years better than Chile's on 5Live)
Also been enjoying Friday nights, with George Galloway, Iain Lee and Adam Catterel's sports phone-in. For some reason, I didn't take to her on LBC, but on TR, she's very good. |

He's actually tuned into those stations and re-fed them on talk radio.. it's so bizarre! Go do your thing and stop worrying what other stations are doing. |

This brings up a point that annoys me with Iain. He goes on and on about what other stations may be doing 'Brexit', 'Black cab drivers' 'Racists'. We get it. But the amount of times Iain takes saying what other radio stations are doing, is just as dull and annoying as actually listening to those stations!
He's actually tuned into those stations and re-fed them on talk radio.. it's so bizarre! Go do your thing and stop worrying what other stations are doing. I'm not worried about what others are doing. I am doing my thing. It's not bizarre. My show is so different from the others that a casual listener or someone who's found me by chance might not understand that. So, I'll explain. Thanks for your concern but trust me, I know what I'm doing. I would suggest your post means I'm not doing it enough. I don't think I've ever mentioned 'racists' as a topic that LBC might be doing! But, final edit, I take on board what you're saying. But there's no way I'm going to make the whole 3 hours enjoyable for everyone. I'm just grateful you listen at all |

Not really a podcast though is it, more of a catch up link. Surely a podcast is something you can subscribe to, and download and listen to even when there no internet.

Jon's show today was billed as an election special. That made me slightly concerned that it was going to be a 100% straight show. It was already billed as an election special yesterday but when the result came in I was worried they would drop him altogether, like they did on 24 June. But having listened to the first two hours of the show so far, I think he got the mix of serious election talk, satire and the usual nonsense absolutely right.

First time I have seen Talkradio quoted in the media: this mornings paper quoted Nigel Farage on 'James Whales Talkradio show'.

The Sun and Sky News were being mentioned on James Whale's show yesterday in connection with the Nigel Farage interview.
The discussion they had was the sort of thing that would have feminists outraged, but it doesn't seem to have caused a storm. Perhaps Donald Trump's victory has overshadowed everything to such an extent, that Nigel Farage can go on Talkradio and makes light of Donald Trump's behaviour towards women, without doing damage to his political career or his party. I don't think it can be put down to poor listening figures when it has been covered by media outlets which larger audiences. |

Which paper? One of Murdoch's for a guess. There has been a bit of cross-promotion creeping in on Twitter recently.

A modest improvement to the talkRADIO website.
Under "Radio" it now says "Schedule/Listen Again" |
