Maybe we aren't interested in JHB's show? We've heard this kind of embarrassing interview before on other stations so to me it is not particularly notable. It is not why I listen to talkRADIO.

You might call this a "triviality", but I thought the treatment of Con's birthday on Jon's show straight after was far more worthy of commentary.

I've no love for the rhetoric being spouted by the Lib Dems after the victory, but it was the kind of badgering, hectoring interview that I'd hope TalkRadio would move away from. It was more about JHB scoring points than learning anything particularly incisive.

The publicity will be welcome, but anyone tuning in as a result expecting LBC-style political interviewing will be disappointed with the rest of the content on the station.

It is too early to assess the impact of the publicity generated by JHB. We'll be able to assess the impact next week based on the amount of calls the station receives during current affairs shows. I hope there is an increase, but I understand that just because something is highly regarded in the Westminster Bubble doesn't mean it is regarded as highly by the general public.

I've mentioned this before, but I don't think there is much, if any, correlation between number of listeners and callers. I realise you are sceptical about the validity of the RAJAR system but Iain basically admitted the other night that JHB has many times the listeners that he has, yet he has way more calls.

Considering it's a talk station, that wants people to phone in, and that is targeting people who would want to phone in, I think it is likely that if there are not many callers it is because there are not many listeners.

The presenters who do get calls are mostly called by fans rather than general listeners. Using Iain Lee as an example, if his TalkRadio show was the first media work he ever did but he was as good as he has been throughout his career, how many of his callers would have called him?

If the publicity JHB has received has the desired effect, the current affairs output will benefit. It will indicate to the presenters of lighter shows, that they too could build their audiences by doing something that generates lots of publicity.

Face facts, hardly anyone knows Talkradio exists. Nobody phones in because few people are listening and those that are can't be bothered.

Andrew Neil mentioned the JH-B interview this morning on his TV show but attributed it to LBC!!

He later corrected himself on Twitter.

TalkRadio gets quite a lot of callers now, especially since they changed to an 0345 number.

Regular listeners will know that Jon usually corrects anyone saying "less" with "fewer", regardless of context. Today, the reverse happened. The expert he had to discuss automation of employment with him during the Big Story just before 1.30 said "fewer" and Jon quietly said "less", probably too quietly for the interviewee to hear.

The most regular caller on Lonely Lunch is Eve from Dublin and she was on for the fourth time today, to update us on her interesting neighbours. She's the only caller to have a second gift prize.

To be fair, I think that the Jon Holmes show loses a lot of its brilliance in translation. It's very much a case of 'you had to be there'...

The contestants for Paul Rossmaster have been gradually getting more and more obscure. Recently we've even had people with no obvious connection to the Wireless Group. Yesterday we had Emil Franchi, who is networked across the Group's local stations from 10pm to 1am. And he's leaving at the end of the year.

Jon put Ass Prod Cass' keys down his pants.

Same thing happened at Radio X, it started off other Radio X staff and DJ's and slowly moved into Global LSQ as a whole before going to local Heart and Capital Jocks. I think they even had a local Heart breakfast producer on. The finale was Vernon Kay playing Vernon Kaymaster.

I'm guessing Anna Williamson has gone now. The other day Jon hinted that she had left and this afternoon he interviewed Dr Pam to discuss the relationship between Teresa May and Boris Johnson and introduced her as the presenter on Saturday night.

Yes I caught that, something like "She used to do the sex show".

Someone asked Anna on Twitter yesterday when she will be back on talkRADIO and she replied "hopefully in the New Year". The first few words on her Twitter profile are still "@talkRADIO host Sat 9pm-12am"

Rosie from pulse 1 breakfast was probably one of the best guests they've had though - very funny. The bloke from magic/BBC wales was also good and included a good dig at Radio X

I heard Call Paul today and in terms of interaction outside Iain Lee's show, it was the best phone-in I've heard so far on the station. Severral good callers with different perspectives and Paul Ross letting them have their say instead of jumping down their throats.

didnt hear the show, but have to say some hosts let callers make their point and then post call make their political point to reset their agenda. rather cowardly i think.

All these callers that have mysteriously appeared - are they the ones that were advertised for on that extras casting page earlier in the year? I remember John Myers blogging about it.

It does sound nice and busy though. It's often said that hearing callers on air creates further callers. Let's hope that's the case.
