Yep all the people on here moaning about the stream quality and wondering if DAB is better.... it isn't!

I'm not talking about low bitrates etc - there is something wrong. Overbursting I think.

It sounds like something is wrong with the processing somewhere along the line. In theory, it should sound as good as 5 Live or LBC as they are all using 64 kbps MP2.

I vehemently hope not, talkRADIO is set up for current affairs to get away from the stinking pile of you-know-what that talkSPORT provide I will be very disappointed if they start broadcasting football.

They are "squeezing" a caller in now.

Sound quality sounds good here up in Yorkshire on DAB, see the Listen Again feature is up and running and working well which is great, just played the 6.00am introduction and thought it was very good but only heard a little of the actual output so far but it sounds good to me.

I'm hoping they will throw in some politics as well and I think they will.

The stream cut just now and when I re-started it looks like they may have increased the bitrate to 48 kbps. On my player it is showing as VBR but I am not sure if that is genuine or a bug at my end. Quality does sound a bit better than earlier anyway.

The listen again feature on the talkradio app, does it let you download the show for listening to later?

Yes, same for me (using Tunein). It's listed as talkRadio US on there for some reason

I live in Suffolk & I can't get TalkRadio on my DAB radio. Wish I could find it, anything would be better than James O'Brien

Yes, on VLC it says 48 kbps and the statistics show the bitrate hovering around that level.

The Sound Digital multiplex doesn't cover much of East Anglia, so you need to be listening online there.

Its genre is listed as 'sports talk & news' on Tunein, so I suspect whoever was responsible for registering the stream wasn't entirely on the ball. The 'US' is probably due to them clicking the wrong country on a pull-down menu!

I wonder why they just don't have an AAC stream instead of MP3? Much more efficient.

Yes, sounds likely. Hopefully it doesn't confuse too many potential listeners.

Stream is 40 kbps in iTunes at the moment. They increase the bitrate. It's better but lot's of level issues, louder imaging than the microphone etc.

Talk Radio has been exactly as I expected in terms of the brilliance of JHB and the quantity of callers. I mainly listened to James O'Brien for the first 2 hours as Talk Radio was too guest-heavy. The reason for that is obviously lack of callers, and it is better to have guests than to have a presenter with nobody to talk to. I hope Talk Radio's audience will grow.

Maybe TalkRadio would get more callers if the number was free. I was surprised they didn't have a free number considering that they were starting with an audience of 0. Having said that, the amount of free textual contributions that was read was minimal.

It may help the station if it took TalkSport's AM frequencies at least during midmornings.

It will be interesting to see if the Listen Again changes to 48 kbps if the stream changes to that permanently.

For maximum compatibility.
I also suspect you mean AAC+ rather than mere AAC.

Thanks. It should be possible for me to code a podcast feed if those URLs are consistent.

Enjoyed JHB's show.
