Many thanks for this. All has worked perfectly until today. Only the 1300 half hour has come through for Jon Holmes. Any ideas?
Looks like a problem with my bargain basement hosting! I'll get it fixed.

I have been listening most of the day for all three days - very much enjoyed the station so far and think they have done a great job. To be honest I haven't listened to a show yet that has put me off (even Delaney, who most people I talk to seem to despise).

There does seem to be something missing though, namely CALLERS... whether this is just early days, lack of promotion or the cost of the 0844 number that keeps coming up as a problem I have no idea. Apart from Iain's show there only seem to be one or two callers an hour if we're lucky.

To their credit they seem to have mitigated this by cramming in enough content and guests so that listeners who weren't hoping for a rebirth of the 90's TRUK may not think anything of it. How long they can keep it up we shall see.

And agree with the thoughts that Jon Holmes and sidekick should really be on the drivetime slot. A bit of fun on the radio is just what a lot of commuters want after a soul-flaying day at the office.

I've updated the podcast feed URLs:

http://podcasts.mywebcommunity.org/holmes.php

http://podcasts.mywebcommunity.org/lee.php

I'll leave the originals in place for now but please change the URL in your podcast app as the original server seems to have gone over-capacity! Hopefully this host will do better.

If anyone wants any other programme feeds created let me know.

I've autotuned, or re-scanned all the DAB radio's around the house. Four of the five have instantly picked up the new TalkRadio, all Pure radio's from the portable 1500, a cheap one, an expensive one and a docking station one. However the high end Roberts DAB radio keeps failing to pick the station up after a full re-scan and I cannot work out why that should be. Any ideas?

Does it pick up these stations?

Took me four retunes at least to get the station so I can't say I'm surprised.

I actually quite like it, seems to be a lot going on even without the callers. I think it sounds much better than the original Talk Radio which seemed to be hours of banter between co-presenters and callers.

LBC seems to be set out to just promote a reaction from callers, whereas the new Talk Radio has content that doesn't rely on people phoning in. Iain Lee summed up brilliantly the pitfalls of traditional talk shows and tedious phone ins on his first show (about 10:20pm).

I quite like Paul Ross, Julia is fairly good, Jon Holmes is likeable (great spoof phone in discussion about floors yesterday). Sam Delaney I've never heard before, but again sounds okay. Not heard the Gould brothers at all, but think Iain Lee is good late at night.

The question now is how long will it last. Isn't it traditional that stations like this change very quickly after launch? eg. The schedule a year from now is likely to be very different.

I'm waiting to see whether the format that doesn't require many calls is because they're new and weren't expecting many, or whether it's a long-term thing.

LBC have ended up chasing the money and bigger profits, which has ended up with the Daily Mail-ification of the station. It's now a mostly boring, repetitive mouthpiece for a right-wing political agenda, because that keeps people angry and it keeps them phoning in and keeps advertisers happy.

So let's wait and see... but I really hope talkRADIO manages to stay different.

Anyone know if it's going on satellite?

It will be interesting to see the line-up in a years time. New radio stations usually evolve and sort their self out as changes are made. I have listened myself and its ok not earth shattering brilliant, feels like it needs a big hitter and target audience. As I say needs to be given time.

I agree fully it needs time to settle and form it's own identity, so far I think they're doing pretty good overall and I really like the variety of presenters much better than I'd feared after first seeing the early line-ups.

If things are slow in the first year I hope nobody panics and brings in drastic changes [for god's sake no sport] ... and that's from someone who loves sport.

Still think they need to be on Freeview or Freesat to guarantee maximum reception.

Have`n`t see any tv or billboard adverts promoting talkRADIO or Virgin which seems daft.

Outside radio forums like this, many average person will not have a clue.

how many people listen to radio on the telly? they've got a big advertising billboard thingy at one of the big shopping centres today with a live phoneline through to the studio.

I can't see them spending extra money on transmission costs given that they are on the cheap DAB multiplex. I'm sure I read that there are no spare Sky EPG slots for radio so they would have to persuade another station to leave. They could broadcast on satellite without an EPG slot but few people would find it.

The shopping centre seems to be full of doctors. If you're likely to collapse while shopping or suffer an asthma attack, it is the place to be. I heard at least 2 people at different times from there. There were also at least 3 callers. Slow progress.

It's Good Friday tomorrow, so fewer people will be working. I hope that means more listening to TalkRadio in the morning before all the sport, and more callers.

So, how is the amount of callers in the various shows a couple of days after the launch? Still a lot of telephone/studio guests

I think that Talk Radio saw a weakness in the LBC schedule at 10am when James O'Brien starts his daily waffling monologue and have put up their best presenter JHB to take advantage of it.

off on holiday tomorrow so won't be listening to Talk Radio for a couple of weeks but just wanted to say overall I'm quite happy with the station. Its far from perfect (expensive phone number, Sam Delaney etc) but overall I like it. even Jonny and Ash which I hated on Monday night was a decent if not earth shattering listen last night. Iain Lee has, of course been every bit as amazing as I'd hoped he'd be and Jon Holmes has been an absolute revelation. I know some want him moved to a better slot but selfishly I like him where he is-- he offers such a contrast to the borefest over on LBC at that time-- talk about light and shade! I loved the section todaywhere he had the literature expert on to talk about litter... ridiculous but brilliant.
