I just feel they have missed a trick here .Instead of carrying Talksport overnight Talksport should be carrying Talkradio overnight to increase awareness of the station for a few months anyway . Basically Mike Graham doing his old show . Either that or carry an hour of TalkRadio on Talksport between 10 -11am for a month

except the two mikes is excellent.
and its a very low value spot... most stations are in auto-dj mode... if anything talksport is speaking to the lorry drivers etc...
no, "call in" shows on bbc london and lbc already show there are really not enough callers around.. radio 5 live does its thing.. talk sport is a perfect "not the same" as them... and every other station is as good as on unmanned output

The prank itself I thought was pretty rubbish but the guy himself was really good and convincing with it, not that I'm applauding interrupting Howard's show with pranks but it's a pity the bloke didn't do justice with better content to his expertise at doing them.
Well the prank happened when he was in discussion about remote viewing with a guest called PrinCess Jeanee (spelt like that), which made it hard to take seriously from the off I'm afraid.

You should check out the pranks that American political show C-Span gets, sometimes from Howard Stern. They're all on YT, very juvenile and silly but when I first saw them I couldn't help but laugh. Often you can see the varying presenters with their hands hovering over the dump button under the desk with terror in their eyes when they think they are about to be pranked live on air on a serious politics show, which seems to always get targeted.

talkRADIO is not directly competing with LBC, yet I've just seen someone forward a link to a LBC Facebook post saying, "This is LBC's new Spring schedule for 2016...and it will get you talking."

Jake Yapp was joking on Sunday morning that he wanted to start a feud with another presenter to get publicity for the station.

I'm surprised I haven't read much comment about Jake Yapp. I thought he was good on the first show but I didn't listen to the second show because I don't really have time for any more radio.

Someone was singing one of the adverts down the phone to Iain Lee a few days ago and we was cut off, saying you can't talk about the ads. However Jon Holmes regularly mentions individual advertisers!

From listening to yesterday's Jon Holmes show It would appear that the newsreader is sat in the same studio as the presenter. I though they would be in a separate room.

Is that a prediction or radio news?

Did you see Iain's periscope last night? It was very interesting, but the studio looked very bland. It's shame they've cut so many corners. The sound quality was no worse through Periscope than on DAB!

Jon Holmes seems to mention the adverts that go out of their way to be memorable - Just Eat and Selco for example - so maybe these are safe targets in that respect.

I've just watched it. He did a Periscope from there the week before launch so we've seen it before but when Kath carried the camera around the studio we had a better look, including the room where Ed sits. The Periscope he did earlier yesterday evening showed the talkRADIO office, where you could see the talkSPORT office through the window which is much bigger. On that Periscope someone messaged him saying the DAB was better. I haven't tried the DAB since they upgraded the internet stream to 48 kbps.

Yesterday, Sam Delaney said on the handover from Jon Holmes he had one call in the last two weeks but the phones weren't working. Jon said he got lots of texts so given the price of them the company would have made a lot of money. Jon's producer said they had one call but they didn't realise because they don't really do calls and it was from Paul Ross because they were talking about him on air.

I was about to Tweet them but the stream has started again. So we won't miss any of Jon's show, but we need Listen Again for the handover from JHB.

I am really enjoying the station but the lack of callers is a worry. They hardly have any likes to their Facebook page and when they post something on there asking for opinions etc there are no replies. The same can be said for the Virgin Radio page too to be fair.

Is there actually a problem with the phone system or is that an excuse? If they're saying there is a problem with the system on air that will surely put people off calling.

Did the original Talk Radio get calls straight away when it started in 1995?

Iain said he has a two year contract. Is it known whether other presenters have contracts of similar length?

1995 was a very different communications environment. No Twitter, texts only just invented, most people didn't have e-mail, and so on. If a presenter enraged you, the only way of letting him know was to ring them up...

I've just been listening to the Listen Again mp3's I downloaded for Jon Holmes' show and at 1437 Jon says people had been Tweeting him complaining about the broken webstream. The Listen Again has some bad distortions to the sound which may be connected.

Yes they did. I remember it well. They were busy right from the start. There was no national LBC either. LBC's talk channel was on AM 1152Khz only so it had a very minor following by comparison.

There has been much written about the seeming under promotion of the new TalkRadio, so how about......

They buy up lots advertising slots on LBC to promote themselves!
