The Gould brothers don't even seem to ask for callers? They read out a tweet from me almost instantaneously.

Quite enjoyed the show but it's going to get tired of it's just one way. Also the social media "expert" they had on didn't seem to have a clue what she was talking about.
Jonny Gould talking sport on 5Live at 11.30 tonight.

Iain Lee talking about JHB and how he finds her views repugnant... but distancing himself from knocking other presenters "until they find their feet".

Me? It's just repeating what Iain was saying. He had a caller complaining about some other presenters and offering alternatives. Iain said he wouldn't knock other presenters 'for now' as they were still finding their feet on the station, but give it a year and he'd 'rip into them' happily.

He then told a story about JHB and how he really couldn't stand her views on anything.

He was tearing into Paul Ross the other night because his 'twitter manager' wasn't paying attention and reported that Ronnie Barker had died.

Anybody listened to Bob Mills's show on Sunday evenings yet?
I haven't caught up with the latest but I did listen again to his first show. The show was mainly talking about the world of stand-up comedy. He had a couple of other comedians in studio and they talked a lot about Gary Shandling. It was quite interesting actually.

when TR launched first time round, the number was not free. 0345 105389. a few years later (1996-7 I think) they did bring in the 0500 free number. You are right in everything else you say though about how well then publicised themselves.
Thanks Steve I stand corrected I didn't realise it wasn't free to start with I knew early on they had a free number for a while then it changed to a paid one. I'm totally amazed at how little the bosses have bothered to advertise the station. Will be interesting to see what the listening figures are when they get published.

Webstreams down again.
It went down at 0244 and when I tried it again at 6 o'clock it didn't work, so maybe it was down for several hours. It works now.

Jon Holmes must read this forum, or maybe the Ass Prod girl does, as he mentioned on the show yesterday, that he had viewed comments about him giving away meat, and it not being fair on vegetarians.

The caller yesterday ended up being Vegtarian funnily enough, and won a veg box

I tuned in to the last hour of JHB yesterday and I had to laugh. It was her producer's birthday and she was pleading for anybody celebrating a birthday to call in/contact the show and have greetings read out over the air!

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the presenters grimly soldiering on with few, if any, callers.

Don't feel sorry for JHB, she's not capable of human emotions

I see it coming eventually when both sides are slagging each other off silly, they are only separated by glass and can clearly see each other while working, believe me it will come.

I've heard Ian Lee already mention Andy Goldstein who goes out at the same time and Alan Brazil has made references to Paul Ross who also goes out at the same time.

Should be some interesting banter coming soon when they've all found their feet.

Well Iain can also be wrong, last night on the show he was talking to a female caller about Keith Harris & Orville and was telling her what a fantastic and adult only show Keith does with Cuddles the Monkey. Sadly Keith passed away last April and Iain hadn't realised.

actually he was being very fair... he is known to have fallen out with her on a tv news show (which he detailed) so could hardly praise her show.and maintain any credibility. so he did the best he could by giving her the benefit of the doubt, said he enjoyed being "challenged" by views he did not agree with some of the time and signed it all off with a "it is early days" disclaimer.. not the same as vallen.. i hate hate hate, oh hello i love yor work in conversation and then either a 180 "always loved them" or hate again.

it came off the back of a caller who suggested cutting a couple of presenters straight away

i saw that show once... it was like the "student revival" days of frankie howard stage shows.. very much updated (including remote control for one of the puppets at one crucial point of a gag)

he doesnt know everything but who does on every subject.

The stream is now labelled as "On" instead of "talkRADIO".

Surely doing the "best he could" would be to not have mentioned her at all?

Where's the fun in that? He's always had radio "feuds", a lot of the time they are fake.

Iain Lee's a real marmite presenter and I have never found him funny (or worth listening to) so I guess my comment reflected that. Different strokes for different folks as they say?

the caller labeled her as one to remove... he defended her with a caveat. seemed the best he could do at the time... to not respond to the callers comments would be hypocritical to his style, to slag off would be unfair as a new show and to blow their trumpet would not be credible of his known stance..

He was definitely Marmite 10 years ago but he's got almost universal praise since he started on talkRADIO. That's been a bit of surprise for even the most hardcore fans. The more "conventional" presenters have received a lot more flak.

This competition is "eatist" to vegetarians!

The bit I've highlighted just looks so damned funny written like that. What can you win, a leg of lamb, pork chops, joint of beef and a pound of extra lean mince? Very weird.
Jon Holmes must read this forum, or maybe the Ass Prod girl does, as he mentioned on the show yesterday, that he had viewed comments about him giving away meat, and it not being fair on vegetarians.

Must have read my comment then.

This isn't a show I've listened to however. Did someone say he has done pieces on Radio 4's The Now Show with Punt & Dennis? I listen to that, although his name doesn't immediately spring clearly to mind.

The Now Show involves a number of comedians, of which Holmes is one of them.
