What exactly are the licence terms? I would have thought that there would be few restrictions, aside from the usual rules about taste and decency. Given that digital stations come and go all the time, I would have thought that something as trivial as overnight simulcasting would be allowed.
It's been everything from wondering whether they'll do a fishing programme to saying they are hoping there will be football coverage on there and now sharing overnights Why would they ?? They already have what is seen as a very successful twenty four seven national sports station This is shortly to be joined by a second one which already has a host of sports fixtures to fill it There's also sport on several local stations they own and what with this and Bauers Absolute stations and radio 5 live coverage there's no reason to simulcast or indeed even put any sport on it at all They've seen a gap in the market which LBC which is now a national station does not cover and have decided to bring back the brand As yet we don't know all the presenters hence the gaps in the schedule they have given us so far How the heck anyone could assume the slots which haven't got names in are for sport shows or simulcast is beyond me . But they are doing !! If there waa to be any simulcasting or cross over that would have to be on the original remit of the station Look at the new Heart extra for example they have outlined so many hours simulcasting so many hours automated etc |

Do you think the " Moon Howlers "like Nigel, Andy from dumbarton, Tommy the taxi, would come back on ?
![]() ![]() For the love of God, NO!!!!!! But no doubt they'd try, and bore the pants off most listeners. So Tommy didn't drive off a cliff after the SNP lost the indie vote?

Out of interest Radamfi, are you going to be recording Iain's shows? I seem to recall you doing an excellent job of this in the past!!
I would, however, recommend that other people record the show as a backup. It is easy to record the stream if you use VLC. Add the "Advanced" controls to enable the record button to appear and just press it. talkSPORT has a "Listen Again" feature so it might be the same for talkRADIO. |

Why would they ?? I would rather have something different other than a simulcast. My question was simply whether the licence would legally allow a simulcast. |

I'm slightly bemused about the number of posts I've been reading here and elsewhere about the idea of Talkradio possibly simulcasting Talksport

I had a policy of always recording the show even if there's a podcast. That is because of the possibility of poor editing or part of the show being censored.

It's been everything from wondering whether they'll do a fishing programme to saying they are hoping there will be football coverage on there and now sharing overnights Why would they ?? Obviously there's talk of this happening for cost reasons, but I think The Two Mikes would be a good fit for talkRADIO and a better option than broadcasting repeats overnight. It wouldn't surprise me if the Mikes get their own talkRADIO programme during daytime hours, perhaps on a Sunday lunchtime or afternoon. As for Fisherman's Blues and additional live football coverage - that's what I'm hoping/expecting to hear on talkSPORT 2, not talkRADIO. I think once in a blue moon there might be an occasion when you'd get the odd sporting event on talkRADIO, at times when three live sporting events that talkSPORT have commentary rights to are taking place, but I can't for the life of me remember such an occasion occurring in the years since the station rebranded in 2000. In fact I can only remember Radio 5 Live splitting their digital output three ways once (a Sunday when there were England football and cricket internationals plus a Formula 1 Grand Prix taking place at the same time), so I think the prospect of substantial sporting content turning up on talkRADIO barring simulcast overnight output is very remote. |

I'm not expecting any sport coverage on Talk Radio, I'd be disapointed if there was. but I don't think my suggestion that they might take the overnights from TS is an unreasonable idea and I would be (pleasantly) surprised if this doesn't happen. I don't really enjoy the two mikes, but for all the reasons previously stated I think it would make sense for the station as at least it would be live content rather than pre-recorded stuff.
Shame that people are harking back to the days of JW and Tommy Boyd... they were good shows in their day but are we really saying there isn't any new tallent out there? |

Overnights on talkRADIO can be easily filled. Look at the Irish radio market, where it isn't always cost effective to broadcast live overnight. talkRADIO, whilst on quasi-national DAB, won't have massive audiences and as such can be filled with repeats of daytime shows in a 'through the night' show (similar to RTE Radio 1) or syndicated news programmes from NPR etc similar to RTE and newstalk. I suspect 1am to 5am will be filled with these type of shows and 5am - 6am with a simulcast of Share Radio for the early morning London market.

I'm not against pre-recorded programming if it's like what was on One Word. It would be good to have something like that on Talk Radio sometimes. Phone-ins and discussions aren't the only type of talk radio. |

Strange for me to advocate networking but maybe it would bolster Talk Radio if it shared a networked show with the UTV local stations such as Signal 1 & Wire FM at 10pm.

Details like that as far as I'm aware are mandatory Hence the broo ha ha when Global take over stations and hand in the alterations to the licence for dropping local and increasing network If they were to consider networking I'd think we would be talking maybe a year down if things don't pan out after the launch |

Not necessarily. They could network the other stations rather than Talk Radio, so that Talk Radio is the host station.

It'd be a damn sight cheaper too We will know soon enough anyway as it surely won't be too long until the rest of the shows are announced |

Do we have any indication as to what date the station is launching?
