Hopefully this will be noted and mentioned on the show. No excuse for such omissions especially after he admitted it happened as a bus stop!!

I like Victoria - she's quite funny herself, eg: when they all broke completely while discussing Alan Titchmarsh. "Shall I just read the news Jon?"

Apparently she's from my home town of Leamington Spa.

Just sayin'

Yes, when Jon made her do weather for specific towns she insisted that it was given the full name with the Royal prefix.

He had perhaps his best show so far tonight. I listened to all 3 hours and it just about kept my interest, although I was raising my eyebrows on the home strait with that Scottish Alyson who he spoke with. The trouble with Howard is that he's so polite that instead of telling her he thought she may have a few issues and wasn't quite all there and maybe needed a "check up from the neck up" (loved that turn of phrase) he hid behind saying that many of his listeners or emailers would get in touch to say so about her. I think those were his own thoughts. I think he'd have to be pretty desperate to get her back on again, even though she sounded lovely enough.

I've heard Gary Heseltine the former police officer and also Stanton Friedman on his podcasts before. Gary Heseltine seems to speak, as he did tonight, quite a lot without really saying much of any real substance and it is really the same kind of UFO stuff we could have heard on any radio show in the past 50 years. Stanton Friedman was a decent listen and is the type of guest that Howard should concentrate on, rather than emailers he has done little research on and goes with a hunch to put them to air.

I namedropped both Roswell and Rendelsham a couple of days ago and they both got a mention tonight. Those two just never seem to go away, and I'm convinced by neither very much. It's no coincidence that these things appear near air bases. Why doesn't a UFO craft descend onto a packed beach in Ibiza, Benidorm or Bournemouth at the height of the summer season or something similar?

Having said that, even if there have been 10,000,000 reports of UFO's worldwide and 9,999,999 are fake or explained fully, that still leaves just the 1, and just the 1 is all it takes to be a remarkable thing.

Interestingly there were no actual phoned in callers tonight and none were asked for either.”

I started a new job today so I could only listen to the first 2 hours last night but, based on that, I agree that it was Howard's best show so far.

I liked the guests and I enjoyed the format of extended conversations, albeit with the live radio breaks every 15 mins.

I got a name check just after 11pm! I emailed Howard through the week just to let him know I was a new listener and I was enjoying the podcasts/show.

Did someone say he wasn't taking calls for the time being..? I was racking my brains while replaying the show this morning to think of some way he could be pranked via twitter but nothing came to mind

I would feel bad if it happened again - Howard seems like such a nice bloke.

The show was a lot more bearable than I expected. The first guy was interesting enough from a general overview of government UFO attitude point of view, the second guy surprised me when in the end he admitted there was no evidence that convinced hi there was a creature in his lake. And the Scottish lady at the end... well all I will say is that Howard was right to encourage her to get a 'check-up from the neck-up'.

Three bites!

Oh I've got a sense of humour believe me, as anyone who has read posts by me elsewhere will testify. My earlier comment was a bit too dry. Infact it was me who jokingly put a comment about Jon Holmes being "eatist" against vegetarian's by apparently giving meat away in competitions, when a post appeared a couple of days later to say he'd given a veggie box away instead after seeming to read the comment.

A show of this style just does not suit the middle of the afternoon where the likeliest types of people to appreciate it are not going to be available to listen. I reckon the supposed "graveyard" overnight slot from 1am to 6am would suit better if anything. I'd probably listen if it followed on from Iain Lee, whereas with this simulcast at the moment it is a massive collective turn off for TalkRadio listeners at the 1am hour.

I suspect if the controller of TalkRadio was to come to him and tell him his show would begin at 1am instead of 1pm even he might have a sense of humour failure!

Fair enough

I think it would be a real shame if they shifted it to the graveyard shift. (Doubt they will anyway)

Beat me to it! (By some hours admittedly). Guilty as charged!

I think the team is beginning to gel, Ass Prod Cass is great, and as someone else mentioned, Victoria seems to be finding her feet now, the Titchmarsh moment last week was brilliant.

I noticed that as well but I thought it was a good thing. Some of Howard's guests on his podcasts are so convinced that they are right about their areas of interest that they lose the ability to be objective and sound almost deranged. Others, like Mark Devlin, make bold claims about being the world being controlled by secretive forces but completely fail to back it up.

On the Jon Holmes show when they do reactions, and name the voice, do people actually send in those texts for the reactions, and the wrong name for guessing the voice, or is it just them

Not sure about the reactions, but knowing the joke I do tend to send in facetious suggestions. A couple of weeks ago the Cheryl Tweedy/Cole suggestion for name the sound was the work of me!

Starting a new national network on AM would probably not work very well today as AM listening is falling fast and running powerful AM transmitters is expensive compared to sharing a low-cost multiplex.”

I agree with you about digital being the future this is what has happened to television. Analogue radio is slowly being phased out so to put talkradio out on AM even to try and boost audience figures for the short term, would like like taking a giant step backwards. From what i've found out 6 out of 10 listeners are doing it through a digital radio. This figure will only increase as time goes on. I personally do not think it's a major obstacle if someone wants to listen they will do it one way or another, online listening is becoming easier to do through laptops and mobiles.

Are the weekend shows any good, cause during the week I listen to TalkRADIO a lot, but at the weekend, after the football I still go down the Call Collymore route, and.Danny Kelly.

Only TalkRADIO show I tend to listen to at the weekends is Bob Mills show, as I like comedy.

Is it worth giving it ago at the weekend

I've been thinking about it and i've come to the conclusion I honestly do not think it being on digital has anything to do with lack of callers. For those who say talksport has plenty of callers with a number that's more expensive lets look at the figures. Talksport has 3 million listeners a week say for example 1 out of every 10,000 thinks I'll call a show that makes 300 callers per week. Say talkradio roughly has 100,000 listeners a week using the same ratio that would make 10 callers per week potentially. Also there might be the so called sheep factor, if you hear other people calling a show you might be more inclined to phone in yourself. The difference of 6p a minute in phone call charges are negligible I don't think they make a blind bit of difference to things.

I think there is a case of their isn't one simple answer, to begin with the station wasn't marketed well, doesn't matter how much you spend on a radio station, if no one knows you exist, how do you get an audience.
(Iain Lee & Jon Holmes have benefited from their own social media networking, so people follow them)
Do people check out different DAB radio stations other than the one they listen to, it's not like you tune past stations like analogue.
Don't know what to add about the lack of calls (would NEVER ring a radio station myself)

I've had a reaction read out too. Some are obviously made up by them, some are 'real'. All are stupid

The Big Debate is obviously populated by a selection of (I assume) his comedy mates.

As for the Alan Titchmarsh thing.. it was just beyond stupid. The town of Ilkley being picked up by the red arrows and doing a fly past the hospital was possibly my favourite bit, or Cornelius' "WHYYYYYYYYYY!" maybe!

I like having it on in the afternoon. Sometimes I listen at work with headphones, but mostly on the way home on the unofficial podcast link.
