About 75% of the UK population will be able to get it on DAB. Otherwise there is the internet stream which will also be accessible through a smartphone app, and no doubt also the Radioplayer and TuneIn apps. No Freeview or satellite.

Just thinking who else might be in the line up.

Jeremy Kyle
Nick Margerison
Carol McGiffin (yes please!)
Russ Williams
Mike Memdozoff

Pure speculation, but just a few names to throw into the pot.

I'm not against pre-recorded programming if it's like what was on One Word. It would be good to have something like that on Talk Radio sometimes. Phone-ins and discussions aren't the only type of talk radio.”

I really hope the rest of the schedule will create some opportunities for some of the very talented speech presenters currently working in local radio.

I know that's where Iain Lee was most recently working, but I'm talking about people who have never had a national platform before.

It would certainly be cost-effective, as those kind of presenters won't typically be used to huge salaries.

Carol Mcgiffin, yes.
Mike Mendoza, yes
Jeremy Kyle.......Please no!

But then again unlike certain posters on another speech radio thread I won't listen to shows I don't like, I know how to change the channel and listen/download stuff I do like.🙂

What makes it even worse is the constant updates, the critique of the presenter or the show, or even obsessing over a presenters life outside radio.

Just listen to something you do like, but then again you get the old excuse I just happened to put the radio on at the time of that show yeah right.

I do hope when the new talkradio does launch, which ever thread that is following the station is not too negative.

The person who I think you are most talking if is on an enforced vacation he also had a thread named after him that has also been shut down
And I agree totally with your sentiments
I too don't listen if I don't like the presenter

It sounds like it will be phone in's with the odd specialist programme here & there.

Sadly it's more than one poster and more than one presenter, kinda ironic when you see some of the posts complaining about repetition and presenters refusing to be trolled through certain channels of communication.

Anyway that's enough off the downside, I'm gonna try and stay positive about the launch of a rebooted player in the speech radio scene. 😎

Me too. I'm very positive at the moment. Even if I only like 2 or 3 presenters out of say a 14 presenter line up, then it's a good deal more listening than I get at the moment. Happy to say I already have 2 who I really like, and the other 3 I'm very happy to give a try.

Yes the glass half full is always better than the glass half empty attitude. 😄

Simple really if you like a show/presenter enjoy, if you don't then don't bother.

That would be excellent. He doesn't seem to have done much for years. I've been listening to his old shows on You Tube.

Agreed, although I do agree with someone above who said about bringing in some new talent. All the possibles I can think of are 'experienced' but would be good to see someone new too. James H would be brilliant though.

I'd also love to see the legend James H . Reeve back on the radio it would be a radio dream come true and the icing on the cake would be a call from Gary from Doncaster. 😀

If your looking for new talent, Sam Hutt and Lucy Anna Gray are / were pretty good on FUBAR. I've not listened in a while but they accompanied a few car journeys!

He'd be in his mid-sixties now, so it'd be interesting to see what sort of OAP he makes.

one thing that might mean that less experienced presenters get a go on Talk Radio is that will established names who already have say, a safelocal gig risk it for a station that may not be a success? Paul Ross is an obvious exception as e's jumped ship from the BBC but he had just lost a breakfast show so might have felt a change was needed. I'd bet a lot that if Iain Lee hadn't been sacked by the BBC, he'd have stayed where he is. for this reason, I'd be very surprised if James Whale joined the station.

Given how enthusiastic Iain Lee is about his new show, if you were really cynical you might think that he engineered his own demise so that he could become available for talkRADIO. If he was given the choice of two jobs, one at 3CR and one at talkRADIO, he would presumably have found the latter more interesting, especially if he would be getting the late night slot like he has done. But if you play by the rules then breakfast at 3CR is probably a safer long term bet, even if it isn't quite as interesting as a job at talkRADIO might be.

However, we don't yet know what kind of show he will be doing. Most of us probably hope he will be doing something light-hearted, and his Tweets have pointed in that direction, but we probably won't know until the show starts. Personally, I'm not expecting the craziness of the LBC/Virgin/Absolute shows but something like his 3CR Rabbit Hole or later WM shows would be fine with me.

As mentioned in their blurb they have posted Talk radio is going for a presenter led magazine style approach so by that token it might be a mix of his old style and Beeb
Though God knows where Galloway fits into that

Given some of the things Iain Lee has said about his exit from 3CR, I actually think he was pretty cut up about it and how he was treated. I guess its in his interests to be inthusiastic about his new show... Hopefully they'll find someone for Iain to work with, as I feel he produces his best radio with someone like Cath or Agent Chris to bounce off.

Agree. Although Iain is a great personality, he has matured and is well capable of presenting engaging, fun but less anarchic stuff as he did at times at LBC. He was doing that brilliantly at 3CR.

However, I can't help but think it was meant to be in view of this new opportunity. The great thing about Iain being on talkRADIO is that he's got the perfect slot. I know for a fact it's the perfect time slot for him and with a national audience I've no doubt we're in for some great, innovative, engaging radio.
