Victoria the newsreader came up with a good line just after the 3.30 news. She said that they didn't tell her to wear things at talkRADIO (i.e. there's no dress code) and Jon deliberately misheard that to mean that they literally told her not to wear anything. She insisted that she has never been naked in the building so Jon said she has only been naked in the car park with Paul Ross watching through the window. Victoria then said she didn't think she's his type.

Jon Holmes had comedian Tom Price on the show today, who was plugging his Radio Wales show, Fridays at 6.30. Jon is executive producer and ginger Dave is producer. They talked about controversy about a Radio 4 show that ginger Dave had recently produced and that got the Daily Mail upset. I had to search for that as I wasn't aware of it. It appears that the Radio 4 show appears to have been rescheduled from 6.30 to 11 at night.

Jon is hosting the Arqiva awards tonight and suggested there might be a live stream. If that's the case then there could be some really rude jokes!

The Arquivas are streaming online at InRadio. Just heard Jon Holmes in his opening few words say "Very happy to follow someone quite so popular. In my new job I have to follow Julia Hartley ****ing Brewer"

Under a minute in when Jon had a go at JHB. "In my new job I have to follow f**king Julie Hartley-Brewer."

Tonight could be fun. As could tomorrow's handover.

Jon got off quite lightly in the handover. JHB said she had heard that he had given her a triple barrelled name last night.

Quote:
“Jon Holmes is known for being a bit on the wild and wacky side, and it appears his 'paid intern' is taking after him!

Our afternoon presenter was hosting the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards yesterday (Tuesday), and he took producer Dave and 'paid intern' Cornelius along with him. A couple of hours later, and Cornelius might have had a few too many, to put it mildly.

Of course, this was the cue for Dave to whip out a digital recorder!

What followed led Jon to proclaim: "This is the best thing I've ever heard!"

Enough said. This is too hilarious to miss!”

I would like to listen at least occasionally but the sound quality is still too bad.
Share Radio is fine (& quite interesting at times) as is LBC (which is dreadful most of the time)) so why is Talkradio so distorted sounding?

Straight-to-air calls after midnight was good the other night on the Iain Lee show did anyone catch the young kid calling himself John?, he was brilliant.

Not many people can match Iain Lee when they ring in but this young lad did all the way through.

Back to Rendlesham Forest alleged UFO incident at Christmas 1980 yet again close to the beginning of the show with a chap called Gary Heseltine who I've also heard discussing the subject on Howard's actual podcast previously. This chap is apparently a former police officer and clearly uses that, as Howard does, to seem to give him greater credibility and believability. I don't know why this is always deemed the case. Police officers can be as nutty and deluded, or simply down right deceitful as the next person, maybe more so even. Not even sure why the guy was back on the show because he had nothing new to say. I don't find him remotely credible myself.

What I would like to know is if this incident was actually reported in the press at the time or in the days after, in the last days of 1980 or the new year of 1981? If not, why not? Is it one of those tales that emerged a long time after the supposed incident.

Howard tends to be too much of a fence sitter on everything he discusses. We know nothing about what he himself actually believes on subjects like the one above.

Isn't it funny how these aliens always seem to hide in the trees or the clouds and do some 2nd rate disco lights. They never actually land in front of the control tower or in the middle of a town square and ask to speak to someone in charge. Can't think why.

As for Howard, he seems to want to remain balanced. Not sure why, he's on talkRadio, not the BBC (not that they'd do this sort of show anyway). Perhaps he's worried if he does get enthusiastic about something and it turns out to be complete tripe thats his credibility gone. Mind you, he's apparently got David madder-than-a-box-of-frogs-on-lsd Icke on in june so credibility will be packing its bags and taking a hike that night.

My thoughts are that he doesn`t want to put off guests from appearing, by challenging them too much. However, in recent shows, I have him ask one or two more probing questions that usual, often posed by listeners via Twitter, although he seems very apologetic about asking them.

One thing we know for certain about all alleged life forms that have visited us here on Earth is that they share one basic characteristic - SHYNESS!

This is my thinking too, but he really ought to allow himself to become a bit more of a critical thinker and not hide behind the "some people might say" or "I will get emails saying". Anybody worth their story who is genuine in what they say should welcome critical questioning, not be put off by it.

There was some great banter on Jon's show today. Cornelius and Victoria went to the same gig last night and Jon kept referring to it as a date, which Victoria vehemently denied! Although at the last news at 3.30, Victoria said she had agreed to go somewhere else with Cornelius.

The Diversity Paper Review has been consistently at around 3.15 since the show started, but yesterday it was on at around 2.45 and today it was at around 2.10. As usual, there was the usual robust banter between Jonny and Jon.

Judging by the time of your post, were you talking about Alan Caddick and Nigel from Maidstone? Alan has been phoning various talk radio shows for years, notably Tommy Boyd. Nigel from Maidstone used to phone Mike Mendoza a lot when he was on talkSPORT. If these callers are "fake", they would be unlikely to be stooges of different presenters.
