Because they have no newsreader, the team are going to do the news themselves, enabling them to continue doing headline hijack which would be a bit tricky if they used Sky News/IRN.

I agree. His little sketches are particularly funny too. It makes a nice alternative on sundays to the religious and golden oldies dross on BBC local radio and the inevitable brexit/migrants/muslims discussion that some personality free bore will be droning on about on LBC.

To be honest, I'm now starting to doubt myself and maybe I did dream it. Does anyone else remember anything about Galloway doing more than one show a week?”

I remember that discussion as I was replying to it!

It's a mention on air (forgot who) that implied George will be doing more than his initially announced Friday show. I speculated he might take over the weekend slots currently given over to the best ofs and reruns.

Finally found the post saying Galloway will do 3 shows a week

We still don't know when he is starting ...... May 27 was Friday, unless they meant 2017!?

The website still continues to show Jake Yapp in for Jon, now all the way up to next Tuesday.

Presumably he's banned from broadcasting at the moment because he's a politician who has publicly stated his referendum preference and is a fairly prominent face on that side of the argument. That banning may not have been known when Paul made that post some time ago.

I've tried listening to several shows on the new station now, but am old enough to remember the old Talk Radio and, sadly, this just doesn't compare. Back in the old days we had genuinely exciting and very listenable presenters like Nick Abbot, Tommy Boyd, Caesar the Geezer, Moz Dee with Carol McGiffin (she was really good back then!) and Ian Collins, but this new lot are really pretty dull by comparison, and none of them so far make me look forward to a nights listening in the way the old lot did. Sad, because I had quite high hopes, but true.

Each to their own, but I like Jon Holmes, Sam and Yasmeen, Iain Lee and Jake Yapp - and some of the weekend shows I've missed so far sound promising.

It's a different era, but I like it.

He just tweeted that he starts his cover shift tomorrow for a week.

You may be right maybe the new station doesn't hit the heights of the old station [but that's all about opinion anyway] or maybe after all these years one looks back with rose tinted glasses because as much as I liked the old station it did have faults.

For me I'm just glad it's back again, I back them and wish them every success and pray they prosper.

We already know that Jake Yapp isn't going to be doing 100% nonsense while he sits in for Jon Holmes. He's currently talking to an expert about North Korea.

Yep, and I think that is fair enough.

Jon Holmes finished yesterday by saying "play nice" - considering he usually rips into other presenters, I thought that was quite nice.

Gutted there's no Paul RossMaster this week though

I used to love Tommy Boyd on my drive home and then I'd stay for Nick & Carol followed by Caeser at nights.

Great news , how long for ?

Is there any chance Holmes playing @ ' The Edinburgh Festival Fringe' that would keep him of air for 6 weeks or more, its was great when Matt Forde done it on tS

I have to say I am a little bit surprised, and dare I say it, disappointed. The reason is that he made a great effort to keep within the format when he did his last sit in for Jon a few weeks ago, even keeping some of the same features. It would be a big ask to keep that up for a whole week, so I don't blame Jake for doing what he's doing.

Jake said he will be doing "hipster nonsense" with Emily, so that could be worth a listen. He's ported "TV Club" from Sunday mornings.

Caesar's old Talk Radio UK show was great and I was gutted when they fired him, he'd warned them the 'Shock Jock' format wouldn't work and when it didn't they blamed him and Terry Christian and sacked them both which was utterly ridiculous.

Although I've followed Caesar doing his Elvis Hour on SFM Radio based in Sittingbourne and loved that show I don't know what he's up to now but I'm sure given the chance he'd be there like a shot if talkRADIO ever gave him the chance and I believe he'd still be brilliant.

But they won't of course just like nobody else will.

Jake Yapp this afternoon got much more light-hearted after 2 o'clock with a lot of good studio banter including much more of Cass than usual. The first hour seemed quite out of place by the end and was almost more like an extension of JHB's show.

The bitrate seems to have been increased to 64 kbps as of about an hour ago. The stream name has reverted to "This is my server name".
