breakfast is the real weak point of the schedule for me-- Paul Ross just isn't engaging enoughto carry it off. Iain Lee mentioned on an early perescope or podcast before launch that Talk Radio were paying him more than BBC were so if thats the case for Paul Ross, you can see why he moved over-- particularly after BBC London moved him off breakfast to 4 AM.

I appreciate I may be in a minority, but I have always liked Paul Ross on the radio. I like his style or presenting.

That said, I prefer Vanessa Feltz, so she's now my first choice in that time slot. Up against most others, I'd choose Paul, though. It also helps that the BBC has no adverts, which I find an additional distraction in a fast-paced breakfast show, which is also being interrupted by news, travel and weather every few minutes, too.

Paul is a brilliant presenter really knowledgeable bloke. Wish I had the luxury of listening to his show but I'm on the way to work when he's on, I know there was a podcast but the last time I listened it sounded like it had been edited with a blunt axe.

I do wonder how being on DAB only makes a difference. For the traditionally busy slots of breakfast and drivetime, when people are out and about, listening in the car perhaps, how many people have access to a DAB radio?

I've got several option for recording radio, trouble I'm too busy chase playing Nick F or catching up on Nick A shows old Danny Baker shows or Iain Lee from the night before and of course I've got about 4 or 5 years worth of the late great Neil Rogers to listen to. Trouble is if I get the chance to listen to Paul's show it would be probably a few days after so listening to a breakfast news type show is that it would be a bit out of date.

I flicked over to Iain Lee last night, just in time to hear an altercation with presumably his producer, who argued her case very effectively against an unnecessary prolonged haranguing from Iain. TalkRadio should give her a show, she sounded fab, and like she could hold an excellent discussion show and broaden the station's appeal to new listeners.

Then a call from Nigel, who's been saying the same few lines for literally decades!

Strictly speaking, she already has a show on Sundays, "7 Days of talkRADIO". She used to be a presenter on BBC local radio before being a producer. However, I agree she is very good. She has hosted the show when Iain has gone to the toilet or when he gets her to speak to someone he would rather not speak to, but on those occasions she didn't seem to want to do it even though she was more than competent.

Thanks for the background info. I will tune in to her Sunday round up. It'll be a good way to get to know the other shows and presenters now I can listen to the station on DAB.

George Galloway is on tonight according to the schedule. There were also trails earlier today saying he will be on tonight.

For me GG is the top radio presenter on talkRADIO, miles ahead of the rest. Why he has only got 1 show is beyond me.

That is a pretty weak answer by GG, you can bet your bottom dollar if talkRADIO offered him more than 1 show per week, he would bite their hands off.

He can get more callers on Russia Today or Press TV.

Is that GG's fault or talkRADIO? Or both?

He was actually getting more callers on his LBC show if i remember correctly.

It's TalkRadio's fault. Most presenters have the same problem.

GG has had a loyal audience on Russia Today and Press TV. His appearances on LBC have been temporary, but he did get plenty of calls.

I see "Straight to air" is back albeit for now maybe only once a week he can't make his mind up yet. Iain knows it's good or he wouldn't have brought it back so soon I just can't understand dumping something that can be very funny in the first place.

Heard a trail for TalkRADIO, TalkSPORT 2 & Virgin on TalkSPORT this evening, don't know how long they've been running it but don't think they did at the beginning, also overnights say they are simulcasting with TalkSPORT & TalkRADIO in & out of the ads, this should help boost listening to the digital stations.

This thread is becoming very quiet.

Anyway, I think it's worth mentioning here that "legendary late night radio host" James Whale is apparently going into the Celebrity Big Brother house tomorrow night! That should be well worth a watch. On his podcast last year he was talking about the show and said he'd never do it, obviously something (££££'s) changed his mind. I look forward to seeing it.

Last night Iain said he gets asked every so often but normally doesn't entertain it. However, on this occasion he had a meeting about it. His therapist strongly discouraged him from taking part. He said they hadn't got back to him anyway, and if Whale is on it then they probably wouldn't have Iain on as well.

Although I am looking forward to the return of Jon Holmes, I'm enjoying Bob Mills filling in, I vaguely remember him on ITV & have always enjoyed his appearances on The News Quiz, I hope they use him for cover again (would be interesting to hear him take calls, Iain Lee cover, maybe)

And what does Galloway – who has a wide constituency through his show on Talk Radio – think about the fact that he’s now employed by Rupert Murdoch, who is lambasted in the documentary, and recently bought the station? Will he resign like fellow presenter Colin Murray, a Liverpool-supporting broadcaster who felt that he couldn’t work for the proprietor of The Sun?

“Who would have thought that I would be employed by Murdoch?” Galloway chortles. “I work for Russia Today, Press TV, Al Mayadeen TV and Talk Radio. I’ll work for anybody else, as long as they don’t try to interfere with what I’ve got to say. The minute that someone tries to interfere with what I say, then I’ll be off. I said that before Murdoch took over. And my guess is that Murdoch would be very foolish to interfere with my show. It’s the biggest on the station. The advertisers are so happy that I complain I have too many ads.”

So GG's show is the "biggest on the station" yet is only on 1 day per week, something doesn't add up.

Each show on the station has had a lot of adverts since day one on 21 March, and there have been no listening figures yet, so no one has much idea how "big" his show is and whether it is "big" compared to others on the station. The station might know the number of people listening on the internet.

If Galloway's show IS the biggest on the station, management really should be worried.

I've only just discovered talkRadio

Having changed the rechargeable batteries I thought I had turned/preset talkSPORT. No......but I'm not disappointed, Bob Mills is great.
