Panasonic PL1 Sky remote puzzle.
Can anyone assist me solve this puzzle. At last after eighteen years I have taken the plunge and bought myself a new t.v. Panasonic PL1, preferred the 50Hz instead of the 100Hz. Great t.v. so far, no problems, that is except for my Sky remote. I have used both the 0051 and the 678 codes as per list. Both codes work with the exception that they won't change my analogue channels. When I press t.v. button you can see the picture shrink back off RGB, then when you press the Sky channel button, BBC1 ITV etc comes up on the on-screen display but the channel does not change from the Sky feed. I have to go back to the t.v. remote and press the tv/av button. The Sky remote works in ever other respect - turns the t.v on/off etc etc. I have the digi box set to Scart control on, RGB on and Scart leads are connected as per instructions. Totally totally baffled anyone any ideas???

Unlike many TV's, when a Panasonic is in the AV mode (RGB, SVideo or composite video) you can't switch between AV and analogue channels simply...... you must press the 'TV/AV' button to toggle between either the normal tuner channels or AV inputs...... this can be done on a Sky remote by pressing the HELP button I think you'll find........
It's one of the annoying things about Panasonics....... a minor thing but many TV's go in and out from AV much more easily. hope that helps. |

Thanks for the info I will give it a try. Nice set though, I'm impressed. It gets the best buy award in the April edition of What Video & TV. I wasn't to impressed with the PL10 when I happened to switch over the demo set to Channel 4 racing, pretty bad smearing etc. Anyway after eighteen years with Sony I thought I would give Panny a chance.

Yes I recommend them........ I used to sell and install many Panasonics and found them to be generally very reliable. The odd quirk I mentioned above is about the only niggling feature on them !
