John, Steph and Tiff - The Journey Housemates

I missed the start of last night's HL show, and just saw the first part on Demand. Has helped to bring a lot of things into focus for me.

I gotta say really nice exchange there between John and Stephanie in the bedroom at the start, which explained much. You could see Steph's growing self-awareness by sensing something was not right between her and John, and then asking him about it. He really showed his caring side and, while he could have bottled it, he told her straight (about her erratic behaviour), but in a kind way. She took it really well and with grace.

Was a heart warming moment for me and just had to post on it. Think it got obscured with the rest of the goings on. I still think John was p*ssed that Steph was saved in the end and had "schemed" just a little in previous days by letting everyone know he'd "had enough" just before eviction, but I'm far more understanding about it now.

Tiffany also has actually been through a similar roller-coaster to Steph in terms of being isolated at times, misunderstood, lack of confidence, and then growing self-belief.

I think they are all learning so much about themselves in there. We like to get all involved and point fingers at times (me included), but BB has always been about the journey. To see how people handle their own egos through the obstacle course of that House.

Steph, John and Tiffany HAVE to be the final three. They have been the ones who have been through the greatest learning curve IMO and without question provided the most drama. The classic journey housemates.

"Going on a journey" means learning something about yourself & improving.
For example: Entering the house as a brat and coming out as a responsible Woman.

Stephanie went in to the house as someone who had a bad reputation and now she will leave with an even worse one.

A journey going backwards not forwards.

John and Tiff yes (It was actually nice to see Tiff say she has been humbled by the experience on the task with Vanessa feltz) on the other hand I feel that Steph has remained the same and nothing has changed.

I have to agree. Tiff learned a fair bit in the house, John is pleased that he's learned to be a more patient.

Steph pretends to listen, and only eventually hears vaguely something she doesn't really want to know, and takes no notice, although sometimes resents it a bit. And carries on doing what she does.

That's not a journey.

This is how I see it too.

Steph has been on a journey, without question.

Goes in with a "reputation"? Who cares about that? I'm talking about what takes place IN THE HOUSE. Steph was misunderstood in the first part (as many of the HMs themselves have come to realise based on what they've said in the last week, even if they still get frustrated with her), displayed much immature behaviour, went through inner turmoil over the Jeremy situation, took a lot of hits off Daniella and Gemma, many moments of drama....and then plenty of evidence of team playing (e.g. making up with Dani/Gemma, "chain task"), trying to understand others (e.g. making a real effort to listen to HMs intently as seen on recent HLs), exchanges like the one I pointed out with John in the bedroom or the laughing and joking with Dani on the garden bench (after all the fighting those two have had) -- and direct comments like "I need to get a grip over my life". Turns huge boos for weeks into cheers, as many people have started to understand more about where she is coming from and can relate to her.

Now, if that's not a journey to you, then I suppose nothing ever would be. It's not a 5 year pilgrimage to enlightenment. It's 1 month in the BB House. But don't let fair minded facts (As Seen on TV) get in the way of a partisan view

Steph has been on no journey and has learned nothing from her time in the house. She has no awareness of is in complete denial about her behaviour.

What do you mean having second thoughts? What did she say?

No disrespect. But are you actually reading the posts? The actual content? To say she has "no awareness" after all the things I have cited (which have actually been SEEN by all of us), suggests not

I understand exactly what you mean, but tbh you're not going to change anyone's minds on here. Some seem to be almost getting off on throwing bile at Stephanie, you'd think the girl was a serial murderer when you read some posts. There are about 4 that are a tagteam, every time there's a Stephanie thread, or even if it has nothing to do with her they still drag her in so they can chuck more bile. No-one is going to change their minds a day away from the final. Good job though on trying to give a balanced point of view, I salute you !

She didn't say anything, some like making up "facts" where there are none.

Exactly. And that's why I knew to dismiss it as soon as I saw it appear on this thread

Did you convince yourself at least..please God tell me you believe that ? With such effort, someone needs to !!

Steph is a clueless, revert to type, persistent character..incapable of learning ANYTHING about herself in an environment like that. Her penchant for turning conversations into ones about herself has remained consistent.

Her capacity to listen studiously to good advice, then 15 minutes later forget it like the bird-brained spoilt brat she is..remains unchanged.

The only journey she's been on is the M25 Express to Nowhere..endlessly going round in circles.

Maybe the posted has read it and disagrees. Just because you saw it one way doesn't mean everyone else has to see it that way too.

Gelefsky, I enjoyed your post and appreciate you trying to be even handed about John.

The 'awareness' thing is interesting.

I used to think that Steph's self deprecating 'awareness' was a charming part of her, and was hopeful because of it.

It's why, I think, that people have felt bad when they have a go at her, and why they keep on and keep on trying to HELP her.

However, she is aware that she can be bratty and over the top, but she doesn't seem to translate this into any action for change - she just carries on doing it. In the next sentence sometimes.

And watching her recently, it just appears that this is her 'schtick' - 'Ooh I'm terrible me, a show, what have I done, laugh, worry, ooh that was dreadful'.

And it's all somehow meaningless, she still doesn't wash her clothes, or try to moderate her loudness, or show any real respect for other's feelings and efforts and therefore it is like some hugely annoying 'tic'.

Something to charm, something to excuse, to get her 'off the hook', like her age.

Steph said last night that she has learned she needs to grow up a bit.

Well it's a start isn't it? Acknowledging that change is required is a first step.

Sadly that will just become another line in her 'repertoire' for at least ten years, I think.

She doesn't internalise anything.

If Steph does go on a journey, she'll no doubt get lost anyway.

Steph has absolutely NO awareness about her behaviour and actions. She'll get a reality check when she leaves. All the things you've posted don't show someone who has an awareness of how they've been behaving.
