Channel 5 have released a statement: "We’ve been made aware of an individual’s post on Snapchat which may have led people to unwittingly call the phone line to vote for Scotty T. The Snapchat user has no connection with the Celebrity Big Brother production team or Channel 5.

We contacted the poster in question to demand the post is removed. If any voters have inadvertently called the Celebrity Big Brother voting lines as a direct result of this post, we would ask them to get in contact with us before midnight tonight (Thursday 4th February 2016)."

Surely they are going to have to put a statement on tv tonight and dismiss all of the votes for scotty placed while the scam was operational - could really hurt his chances

How on earth can this be sorted? How do BB know what votes are the scam ones?! Scotty T could be well in the lead through scam votes. Deary me, what a carry on.

They should cancel votes, start again and reimburse all the Scotty T voters.

Exactly, as I said in another thread, out of the likely thousands who unwittingly voted I would say only about a hundred at most will bother to get in touch and have their votes declared null and void.
Very naive move by Channel 5 but I guess they are just not bothered and doing the bare minimum to cover themselves.

They couldn't possibly do this as I've seen people voting 100s of times on Twitter for people , they couldn't afford to do it all again .

I'm guessing they really don't want him to win after that statement. If they did they would not of posted it.

As in reality they can't stop anyone from doing what Gaz did. So taking as they don't want him to win.

I think they have to be aware that anyone who was tricked into calling Scottys number may not be bothered to get in touch.

The sad thing is if Scotty was to get the most votes legitimately and win, it will now be under the cloud of his mate scamming people into voting unwittingly.

When I spoke to C5 this morning they said that they had been aware for some time and were dealing with it. The unfortunate thing is that getting the OP to remove it does not remove all the retweets that are still active.

It would be unfair on Scotty to discount all votes from time Gaz pulled the stunt until closing of voting tomorrow, but with the message still out there, no votes can be discounted as being part of the scam.

Personally I think that as unfair on Scotty, but not discounting these votes would be unfair on all the other HM's.

This is troubling and can land them in a lot of trouble. If he wins now, no matter what people will call it a 'cheat victory'. We always laugh about OFCOM but if he wins, I can see an investigation being launched. It's quite a big deal.

Gaz from GS told people to ring a number and talk to him on GS. It was Scotty T's vote number.

Which is Scottys voting number and nothing to do with Gaz or Geordie Shore

On the plus side, it makes a win for him now unlikely, which is imo grounds for a pre-final happy-dance that someone so revoltingly undeserving is no longer a contender.

I think Scotty should not be allowed to win. Are we even sure the votes for Scotty are legitimate? Have those people watched the show? If Scotty wins it will be an issue.

Ch5 are probably just covering their backs with that statement, claiming that they are dealing with it when there isn't much they can do.

I hope Scotty loses now though (as I did before but I would have told myself to not be bitter and just accept it), but at least it's fun to have a bit of controversy to stir things up.

One girl posted on twitter today how FAB she though Gaz was to come up with such an idea and that she fell for it. She said she found it so funny what he had done that she called the number back loads of times so her friends could listen in and hear it was actually the Scotty T voting line and not Gaz in the Gshore house. She also said she hadn't watched any of CBB but now hope Scotty wins.
