Do you feel ashamed/embarrassed?

who, me?

I do. I've always defended watching BB to friends because I was genuinely interested in the interactions between people locked up in a confined space together - the psychology of the whole thing. Tonight I felt ashamed to be watching the drivel that BB has become. I wonder if they'll send out another 'survey' after this series asking us what we want - and then blatantly continuing on their own merry way. I can no longer persuade myself that this is 'reality' TV. There's no reality left in it. I've never watched TOWIE or MIC or GS, but I feel like I've been force-fed that rubbish continually since this series began. For me, the tipping point has come in realising that the whole thing is manufactured, scripted, faked. I feel patronised by producers who actually believe that they are producing entertainment. This is bear-pit television. I watched it, but I hated it.

then don't watch. The lower the ratings and interest, the sooner it will be axed

Yes, I question my motivation in watching it every time it's on!

I've watched every series since it began, and the attraction for me was the social experiment aspect, it was a very new concept in the early days and I introduced many friends and colleagues to the programme.

I have asked myself how bad it would have to become, for me to stop watching, and never had an answer. I think now is the time for me to call it a day, they've plumbed new depths over the last week or so and I think enough is enough.

Exactly. I know I keep watching it because I keep thinking it'll get better. And, I guess, in a ghoulish kind of way too - like 'how much worse can it get?' Well, it can't get much worse now, barring a contestant actually committing murder or going insane.

I'm questioning my own sanity I must admit.

I think this current series has made me wonder why I dedicate so much time watching something that appears to have gone from bad to worse.

I will not be watching the summer series that's for sure.

I normally enjoy CBB but I think I'm getting to the point where I can't really be bothered now.

Like John, I think I'm done.

Made me laugh.

I don't tell anyone I watch it. My shame is ACUTE this year though. It's terrible, some awful modern 'circus'.

Remember drunk Little Verne crashing the Diary Room door?
Basshunter and Lady Sov locked in a room together all night?
The general craziness and joie de vivre of Jedward and 'Shall I be the cat'?

I think I still hanker after those days and watch hoping there'll be some more of those magic moments, then I end up feeling a bit dirty for watching all that nastiness and Endemol trying to break people.

Can't believe that probably the only thing I'll remember for this series apart from all the screaming is ScottyT's follow-through story.
He'll be a fitting winner for this series.

Nope, I'm NOT ashamed or embarrassed and I never will be.

I frankly don't give two monkeys about what others think.

I will eternally be a BB fan.

Yeh, I agree with you there, but it's not really BB anymore is it? Especially after that tonight.

As the OP said, I feel patronised more than anything.

I've actually enjoyed a lot of this series, and THAT'S where the conflict comes in for me

That's a long, long, long, long, long, long way away, BB is C5's biggest ratings grabber and money maker and for a TV station to get rid of the show that gives them their highest ratings and makes them the most money is just plain stupid.

C5 would never make a profit from benefits documentaries and other disgusting shows such as botched up bodies. They NEED BB.

I tend to watch it because it is a form of habit. Do I take it seriously - hell no. The manipulation by the producers is beyond belief, take for what it is - a fixed show.

I think it is total barrel scraping now and hate the producers manipulation. I don't actually watch the BB productions anymore as I got so bored of the same old same old with the people going in. I've watched BB since day one and loved the "innocence" of it. Around series 5 of civilian BB two of the show psychologists walked because of concern that the production team were not at all interested in the mental health of contestants. There was a lot of press in psychology journals of the ethics of BB and production carried on. I also have watched every episode of Celeb BB but have really found this last week distasteful and I truly do totally believe the concern of the genuinely qualified psychologists justified. The producers seem to be interested in ratings and profit and it is pretty disgusting indeed. To me it's now akin to the bear baiting which went on in Bedlam in the Victorian days. Daniella and John were established actors and it is sad to see for example two people humiliated on TV. Same with Julie Goodyear. I am convinced that she genuinely believed she had been recruited to a role in a play/TV production as she really acted that way. I do also think Gemma was the star of this show in the producers eyes but at the end of the day she wouldn't have made as much money as the winner will tomorrow. They are thinking spin offs etc, the redemption or journey story or the romance. The producers really do need to get a grip and think of the harm they could be doing. It certainly isn't an ethical show anymore, anything goes, we don't hear of contestants having psychology pre assessments any longer. Daniella has apparently seen a psychiatrist in the house as part of her ongoing treatment prior show due to her problems and issues and it looks like that support has paid off as she has managed to stay the course. However surely Steph and John (this week) would have benefited too. The voice of BB is not a psychologist - its a production team member - and at times for me this series has made some very uncomfortable viewing. I don't know yet whether I will watch next time. I do love this forum and I would miss it. I stopped voting long ago when I suspected certain aspects of the show were being "rigged" and this series I am now certain in my own mind it is so. We don't decide, we really don't. The show, the media manipulates and influences opinion. The target audience isn't the viewer interested in group behaviour anymore and its so sad for me personally it is going this way. Thats my take on it anyway, love it or loathe it.

I think it's really silly for people to suggest that shows like these are "fixed". If they were "fixed", TV channels wouldn't even be allowed to air them. Ever heard of "match fixing" and "spot fixing"??? They're illegal in sports and people have been arrested for them!!

It's not a question of being a BB addict - it's more being a BB Forum addict - the show is secondary but - you have to watch it to partake in here.

I think it was tonight's hatchet job on John that has done it for me. Totally unnecessary imo.

I think the whole press conference was more or less quite brutal for the most part.

Not felt quite like this before.
