Joan Armatrading - Joan Armatrading.
Shouldn't have worked pairing Joan with a producer with credits that include Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Clash, Humble Pie, Eric Clapton et al. But it's an incredibly beautiful-sounding album. The fact it was recorded 40 years ago makes it even more of an accomplishment. |

Pretty much anything by Yello. Their sound quality is immaculate. Dark Side Of The Moon of course. Strange Angels by Laurie Anderson was also one beloved by hi-if demonstrators. For sheer timelessness of production, Jean-Michell Jarre's Equinoxe. Still sounds like it's genuinely from the future37 years on.
