And the G4 is now well under £300 on Amazon, which actually makes it hard not to at least consider that over the G5.

The G4 camera is awesome. It may not be as good as the G5, but it still won't disappoint. It has Cat 6 LTE, changeable battery etc. Slower SoC obviously, but not that you'd notice in the real world.

I wonder how much the G5 will be a few weeks after launch? I reckon by the summer, it will be under £400.

LG has a problem. Devaluation like this makes most people not want to sell it. This, once again, LG doesn't get the success it deserves.

Poor reviews for build quality, seems the back is coated in plastic ,fit and finish not good.

Seems the camera is great (the main one) but everything else is a disappointment. And that's from someone I know who has one.

Such a shame, but it means I'm going to be quite content to keep my 6P until we see the stuff released in the second half of 2016.

I think the 6P, especially having tried Android N for a bit, could be a phone I actually keep as a daily driver for over six months! Shock!

I can't say I was that impressed with the build quality of the Nexus 5 - too much reliance on flimsy plastic. I keep it in a case so I don't have to worry about it so much, but still. My iPhone 4S still feels nicer

Thanks for posting the review. Clearly there are build quality issues with the early units of the G5. Im disappointed the LG V10 was never released in the UK as it looks a great phone. Hopefully quality control issues will be addressed.

I hope they make a successor to the V10, which will probably be H2.

An extensive review from Android Police but they didn't think it was up to much.

The advertising is just awful. LG don't seem to have a clue.

Kind of glad I imported the V10, rather than waiting to see what the G5 was like. Happy with the build quality and performance, just wish they would hurry up with Android M, and wonder if it'll ever see Android N.

Given I didn't go to MWC, I first saw the G5 today in a shop and it looks so cheap. It may be very clever inside, but most 'normals' will never know.

It was also just mixed up with the 'other' phones like the Priv. Another good phone that just won't get pushed in stores.

It's because LG do literally no training or marketing with/to the networks.

I know, and it amazes me. Samsung pay a fortune on field marketing and incentives, as well as fancy display pods.

Even if the S7 was a total turd, staff would push it - and it's an easy sale as people will be drawn to it anyway. I nearly had to ask where the G5 was!

Even Sony seemed to do a better job and that's saying something!

Ive read a few reviews and videos of the G5 and if I could sum it all up in one review this would be it. My feelings are they need to sort out the build quality. They have a mix of metal and plastic chassis, and have used primer and paint to try and make it look all even but have bodged it up. The phone is unpleasant to hold due to sharp edges. The screen back light hotspots are also an issue.

This should have been a great phone but either the design team haven't been up to the job or more likely they have cut costs and gone with cheap manufacturing route and done a shabby job. Perhaps they had under anticipated demand and let quality control slip in an effort to get units shipped. While these issues could be fixed I have a feeling they wont. The G5 will no doubt be sold much cheaper sim free in the coming months as seems typical for LG. With present build quality issues it doesn't justify the premium price tag. At a cheaper price if you put it in a case then you might forgive its short comings. The V10 which wasn't released in the UK was actually a very good phone with lot positive reviews. Perhaps it successor will be released in the UK.

LG have grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory.

Man after reading the reviews I am kinda glad I never held out and bought it.

The build sounds like a mess. Shame as the specs are great and of course will match any other flagship phone out their. battery is getting average reviews in some places I have noticed.

There will soon be so many SD820 handsets on the market, the G5 is going to fade away pretty quick IMO.

It is par the course for LG reviews. I bet Ars has never failed to have a negative headline on each G itertion.

GSMARENA told us about the great build quality, not having a problem with the chamfered edge that comes with the design.

The module facility is for power jsers but who are these power users and do they exist?
I see a majority of high end customers as being trophy owners, spec not really mattering.

The concept that LG has introduced (based on ideas that are still in progress, because they aimed to be a lot more configurable) is commendable.

The problems are that LG has admitted to the BBC (and others) that all the accessories are unique to the G5 and won't fit future phones. Not a massive problem, but perhaps a missed opportunity?

The camera add-on looks cheap and nasty.

The DAC is perhaps a bit too niche.

LG could have just gone with the removable battery and been fine, but upped the capacity and also had a smaller battery or capacitor to allow a hot swap without rebooting.

I expect the idea will be repeated, either done better on the next LG, or copied by another manufacturer.

Sadly I think the G5, hidden as it is in most shops amongst other phones, rather than being showcased like a Samsung or Apple phone, will sell in relatively low numbers.

The only positive is that if you don't mind the issues, in a month or two I am sure it will be around the £300-350 mark SIM free.

The G4, despite the lack of fingerprint sensor that I have to admit I now love on my Huawei/Google devices (and use to unlock the phone every time), is now under £300 and probably a better bet for many. The G4 camera is awesome, the phone supports 4G+, has a bigger battery and you can still change it.

The G5 seems to be a bit like Samsung's S6, and hopefully a disappointing glitch that will be fixed on the G6, as Samsung solved its issues with the S7.

This may be a somewhat long term issue with LG. I can't say I was that impressed by the build quality of my Nexus 5 - so I keep it in a case so that it actually feels nice. Not very "flagship" anyway.

I felt that it had a few sharp corners and the black finish could be easy to scratch or chip. My old iPhone 4S, in comparison, seems solid

So, real comments, away from themed reviews, are coming in now delivery has started.

"as im concerned, i have none of the so called 'faults' that were reported to be on the G5. No so called 'nasty corners' and no 'gaps'. Phone is running perfectly."

I do think people should value 'real user' reviews, but also bear in mind that someone who has just shelled out £500 or so on a phone, or signed a 24 month contract, is perhaps less likely to admit they made a mistake.

Here is much the same question I was asking myself.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...press-t3357406
Yes, they are early buyers so likely poitive anyway, but the question is still valid.

"I'm sick of reading that LG dropped the ball with this device????? Where?? The 2! cameras are fantastic, the process power of the phone is Hard to beat! The screen is crystal clear, the speaker sounds great!!"

Itis funny how we have stuck themes. The Qualcomm 810 was case in point, everyone fixated on the heat, despite its max TDP not being much different from many other chipsets, never mentioned.

All positives there, but the comments are on 'use'.
