She doesn't have to be with anyone. A lot of us singletons lead perfectly happy lives

Very true, but in the soap world you cannot be happy alone.

That literally makes no sense.

I know right. It's to do with him having to fix the family's mess one too many times but he loves doing that - he's always sticking his nose in, so wtf?

It's one shake too far when it's to do with Moira's offspring though.
Not a Dingle. Not worthy of Cains' time.
Plot device is plot devicey. Don't like it.

why?

I think it sounds promising, he seems like a nice guy, he acknowledges clearly that hollyoaks iand emmerdale are completely different and he seems appreciative of the storylines that are in place as he starts on his own

DS are hardly known for their brilliant journalism so I wouldn't necessarily trust that. However is it possible that he came in to work alongside Kate Oates initially as some sort of transition period? Not really sure how these things work.

Not sure why we've had such a negative/fearful response on here tbh. He has said that HO and ED are very different shows and none of the storylines he's announced are particularly controversial or suggestive of going down that sort of path. Most of the storlylines will still be Kate's ideas anyway.

well I was wondering earlier if they had a teenager writing some of the soap articles but yes I was thinking that they maybe did but some posters are adamant that DS is wrong!

I'm sure that is wrong though. Other articles I read suggested he had been hired in september but would not in fact start working at the end of last year.

So I actually have no idea when he began his actual work, either way it was sooner than I expected.

He came over in the very last week of December, had a week's handover with Kate then started for real in January.

Kate Oates was the one to bring Holly Barton back. Next try for the 'omgz the guy whose work we've yet to see has killed Emmerdale' hysteria?

Thing with most people on this forum is they don't like change, I think that's the problem

It was ITV who said the new guy doesn't start until January/New Year when they announced the new producers. This is the first I have heard of him starting in September.

I don't care whose decision it was. It doesn't matter. Holly and Hannah were terrible characters played by weak actresses... Holly is still going to be there stinking up the show under the new producer as well as yet another new Dingle when the ones on screen are already overused and spent.

The last new Dingle was either Del or Eli which was both 10 years ago and they have since left the show so I think the time is right for a new Dingle.

I've no objection to this actually. I liked both sisters and was never convinced by the "They're both terrible actresses" stance. And their lack of involvement in recent years has been very silly. As others have said, being cousins doesn't necessarily rule out a romance, especially given that the Bartons and Dingles seem to believe in keeping it in the family. It'll also give Victoria a friend, which she's been sorely lacking.

No, he started a couple of weeks ago (confirmed by ED actors Mike Parr and Danny Miller, plus Duncan from Metro) DS have just confused the information because KO leaving was announced in September as was Iain's departure from Hollyoaks but at the time back in September it was also confirmed that KO had a few months left in the job as did Iain at Hollyoaks. No one was starting or joining straight away.

Kate stayed on right up until the Christmas break, Iain joined in the new year.

Some of the storytelling was very Hollyoaksy in 2015 anyway, saved by better actors, so will we notice a difference?

Adam and Moira work better without Hannah and Holly. There is no need to bring back Holly.
