i am sure she was quoted at the time saying she got the idea to call him Kai from a kookai bag that she had/had seen

Not sure about the bag bit but I remember clearly her saying she really liked the name of the shop Kookai and kept repeating it and settled on calling him Kai.

I hear Prince George was named the same way after The Duchess of Cambridge took a trip to Asda.

If that's true, then all of the housemates have a problem with the amount of swearing they did.
As for Kai, most boys of that age wouldn't want their mums hugging them in public.

My boys always hugged me no matter what age

I dont believe most boys wouldnt want to hug their mums when they havent seen them for a few weeks whether in public or not
