That's just plain odd.

He reminded me of Kathy Burkes Perry when he drew .. a bit of a beard on his face

I can't see him being paid any less than Nancy so it would have been £100K or more for a mont's OK. More than he would be paid for stage work and enough to pay for 2-3 years care for his mum. It is quite likely he was allowed time in the house to go over his lines for his next appearance (think it's Cats?) that we didn't see screened.
CBB is work so I don't understand what you mean when you say he "could have just worked". Nancy hasn't practiced law for years, Kristina won't be able to dance while pregnant, Danilla was or King in a pub & Stephanie had not been employed since her dismissal from Hollyoaks, not sure what Angie or Jonathon do to make a living but again, probably earning nowhere near what their CBB fee was.

John is playing Billy Flynn in Chicago. A brilliant musical. My daughter was one of the dancers a number of years ago when Darius played the part of Billy Flynn.

Spent most the time when we went to see the show dribbling over Darius LOL!

I thought I'd google Cheban to see what he'd done. Apparently he was in PR, had a company that's since dissolved, has a website he runs, is still involved in PR, and now, tada!, has a new reality TV show coming out, surprise surprise

Angie, I believe, is a writer.

Danniella owns her own pie and mash shop apparently.

Absolutely, CBB is work - not many of have to work 24/7 for 4 weeks non-stop!

You think that being a soap actor and working in musical theatre isn't a decent career?

I think that's the sort of career some of these housemates dream of, but in reality probably won't get much further than appearing on other reality shows.
This for John is probably just a small deviance to give his profile a boost, to others in there they probably think it's their big break.

I thought it was that he decided to have the thick moustache and sinister glasses because he'd heard the boos, knew that was the role he had been cast in and thought '**** it, you want me to be a villain, I'll look the part;'

Do you know how much home care costs? 24 hours 7 days a week would conservatively cost 1500 a week, residential care about half that.
Musical theatre I believe doesn't pay anything like that even if you're reasonably well known.

I honestly thought he was coming out as Lord Lucan, to take the heat off his actions!

He aged about 40 years since day one

My guess would be that it was a bit of both. Part of it is probably because of playing Billy Flynn but I definitely think he also wanted to underline that he'd seen through the treatment he had during his time in the house and understood exactly what they (the production team) had been doing to him and in his own way expose them for it. (Hence also the puppet-comment to Darren on the Thursday show).

Oh, and Hi and sorry for butting in btw

It's not the first time John has grown facial hair. . It makes him look much older, then and now. .
