no, I put bets on people who I think have a chance of winning against the odds. In that respect, Stephanie was a good choice - her odds were 100/1 !

So did you put a £1000 bet one or did you in fact just anticipate winning £1000 if Stephanie won? There's a bit of a difference!

OMG. That would have been worth about £200,000 to you?

What were the voting irregularities? If it wasn't above board then of course you should get your money back.

Edit: Should have read the thread properly!

Fair enough.

'I lost £1000' does make for a more sensational headline than 'I lost a £10 bet'!

No you won't.

The best you could have expected was that your bet would be returned.

However, I am sure the reason Scotty's team issued the retraction so soon was that someone had a word with them about someone alleging a possible conspiracy to commit fraud.

It could have been alleged that they placed large bets on him when he was clearly in second place in the betting and then committed this act.

If it could be proven that this act was in furtherance of a betting coup then that would be an illegal conspiracy to commit fraud and charges could be brought.

Only the bookies could complain though, as only they are aware of betting patterns.

if it turns out there was voting fraud then the entire final night's votes are null and void. It will have to be re-run

and bets will still stand
