EE - Another unannounced exit next week?
Following Shabnam's tear-jerking exit on Friday night, I am worried that as many on here feared that Buster will be departing, and next week he's only in Monday and Tuesday and Mick discovers a secret about him. If this leads to him leaving the square I will be really pissed off - another wasted character, he never got a chance to bond with Mick and we didn't get a lot of insight into him and Shirley and it really would show him as being a weak plot device for the rape storyline to add more conflict. Would be such a shame as he could really fit in the square - and I dread another Shirley/Phil/Sharon love triangle. Thoughts?

I think Buster may leave for a while and come back for Dean's trial - it seems quite soon for 2 characters to leave in 2 episodes however it is possible.
Buster did get a bit suspicious when Shirley was upset that Phil may die, so he may get jealous. |

Can I keep praying for it to be Stacey? Or can she just stay in that room for the next year with one scene per quarter?
Pretty please. |

I hope Buster leaves. I never took to him. How long has he been in it now and he's still a spare part? I've no interest in knowing anything about him or seeing more of him so if he leaves then good. Shirley is better single but I wouldn't mind seeing her back with Philth rolling around in the gutter for a while. I always pictured the pair of them drinking themselves to death like the couple in Fairytale Of New York.

The actor playing Buster is decent but has been given very little to do. His relationship with Mick and rest of Carter clan hasn't been explored due to endless rape story. Rape story had to drag out to let the Shabnam and Jade story play out. Pointless though that was as they left! I wouldn't be surprised if it's another actor jacking it in. DTC can't bring in decent actors and have them hanging around for months due to story blocking. Shabnam was in EE for months before she did anything much. Didn't the market inspector guy who was with Roxie get fed up and go.

I really like Buster so it'll be a shame if he's leaving. Then again he's so far felt like a spare part for Shirley. We don't really know anything about the Briggs family despite Mick having that blood too.
As it is, I'd have kept Mick as Shirley's brother. That secret just started endless numbers of secrets for the Carters since. Buster as Dean's biological dad works but if Phil Daniels hadn't quit, it would've been nice if Kevin Wicks was that. |

I really like Buster and I feel that both the character of Buster, and the actor Karl Howman fit seamlessly in to the square and the show. It would be such a shame for him to be leaving already, and I had hoped that he would renew his contract.
We haven't seen a lot of development for him so I would like to find out more about the Briggs family, his mother/father, maybe a sibling? What about his time in prison? There is also scope to explore his relationship with Mick, and discover more about his history/relationship with Shirley, it's good to have solid couples on the square and I like their rapport. Have they also forgotten the feud that began with Vincent? Who is Uncle Rudy and Reggie? Just as long as they don't make him Derek mark 2 with the lazy writing of bringing in random children all over the show for him, it's been done to death. I know I'm repeating myself but it really would be a true shame for him to leave now. They wouldn't do another Phil/Sharon/Shirley triangle now, would they? With Grant coming back I think they want Sharon involved with the Mitchells. Plus it just makes both characters look weak and like doormats. It's not really appropriate with Phil currently dying and all. DTC has spoken of 'big' scenes for Phil, Sharon, Kathy and Grant. Having said that, I do enjoy Phil and Shirley's friendship and I wish that could be re-explored without Shirley chasing Phil only for him to turn her down. |

If he is leaving, I wonder if that's why the scriptwriters gave Jade to Shabnam?

Buster has served his purpose of providing support to Shirley for the Dean storyline and also the Jade storyline now that both Dean and Jade are out the picture he is no longer required, Shirley will spend more time with the other Carters and be able to get involved wit the Phil cirrhosis storyline without Buster getting in the way.

Maybe Shirley chases after him with a hacksaw screaming "Phil needs a liver!"

They might as well stick Kathy in there as well - and bring Mel, Lisa, Kate, Suzy, Dawn and Glenda back to fight for his 'affections' - such as they are. Honey will be next. |

I really hope not. I'm already feeling sad about Shabs going, I don't want Buster leaving too. I shall be forced to stamp my feet in despair at not being able to do a damn thing about it all 😫

I personally hope that KH has signed a new contract, so much to explore with Buster. After Honey, Jane may get the hots for him, possibly Denise. Everyone wants a bit of Phil... ![]()

You see I don't mind Phil as a character, but I hate how they make all these seemingly 'strong' woman just fall at his feet or all the strong males falter next to him. They don't need to sacrifice the integrity of the characters or write these characters out of character to accommodate Phil's 'top dog' status.

Everyone wants a bit of Phil... ![]() ![]() If he had suffered a few real defeats over the years, in feuds, fights (one on one) business, pool, poker or love he would be a far more interesting person. As it is all this 'King Philth' cobblers is incredibly tiresome. |

If he does leave then Shirley will be very lonely in that flat. A month ago she had Buster, Dean, Roxy and Jade living there but now it may be just her

I don't want Shirley shoehorned into Phil's story. There are already a lot of characters involved.
