I'm just watching the final on catch up, didn't bother watching it live as the result was pretty obvious, and I do have flu (not the kind Jeremy has sniff)

Not much of a John fan really, but was the "off" chanting and heckling really necessary?

Not sure what it was that caused John to shout "Get over it, it was 5 years ago" - but I'm glad John responded like that anyway!

From what I've seen so far (Daniella is just leaving) the crowd are a right bunch of losers this year.

The person who did the live build up thingy from the crowd told us what reaction the crowd had been directed to give by the warm-up man, so we knew in advance in was big boos for John

As usual the crowd ruined what could have been an enjoyable final.

They just seem to get worse and worse.

The crowd were told? It just gets worse...

Like other evictions the crowd were deplorable. The moronic chanting of "off" for Gemma (on Tuesday) and John during their interviews was just pig ignorant (and I have little time for Gemma).

I was wondering about the 5 years ago things as well, he left Eastenders in 2012, 4 years ago-maybe they shouted something about Christian/Syed. I see he's supposed to be returning for the 30th anniversary special this month.

Apparently someone shouted 'where's Syed'.

Don't really get why he reacted like that to it- it was pretty innocuous compared to the rest of the stuff being shouted. Guess he was just fed up of it all.

I've seen several comments on twitter that the crowd were told to boo John.

John's claiming people booed him but still shook his hand and were kind to him, I'm not really convinced on that one.

I think it was that one bloke who is always near Emma at the foot of the stairs, and who waits for quiet lulls in the crowd noise to shout out quite specific things.

I really felt for John last night. I wasn't a fan of him but that interview was hard going. I literally couldn't concentrate on what he was saying because of all the chanting.

The crowd act like chavs and have done for some time now! It was said on here that the warm up bloke was telling them who to boo! Really disgusting!!!!!

I forgot about it last night in all the madness but did anyone else notice Emma saying to John something like "if you're ever on the BBOTS panel again...."
She forgot herself for a minute, she knows he'll be pissed when he hears what's been going on.

Yep, and followed it up with a not-awkward-at-all 'not that you're banned or anything'

I hate all the booing and heckling all housemates should be given an opportunity to explain themselves however vile they may have appeared in the house. That said the heckling and booing did seem to be triggered by him embellishing the truth when responding to some of the questions, it wasn't constant.

How does that work when the booing started before he opened his mouth?

Yep same here. I don't mind the booing when they come down the stairs but at times it was difficult to hear what John was saying. I don't think they even knew why they were booing other than they were told to. Total morons

I didn't understand that bit, and then I thought it might have had something to do with remarks John made about the man who played Syed. Seemingly John didn't like kissing him and said thinking of him in that way made him feel sick or wtte. Then I thought it was his private life, but I'm not 100% sure what was shouted. I don't understand what EE has to do with this.

I think any comments John's made like that are firmly tongue in cheek. You have to remember he is a married gay man, it's wouldn't be appropriate for him to say he liked kissing another man.

John's had a pretty normal private life so what was said could only really have been about Eastenders. I'd love to know for sure what it was because he did seem angry about it although he was being heckled from the moment he sat down so maybe he just snapped at that point. I'm sure hearing "where's syed" gets boring really quick.

Yeah, it'd have been along those lines. I don't recall him saying it made him feel sick, though I might be wrong as it was a long time ago (four years, not five ). I think he may have said something along the lines of he didn't enjoy it because he and the guy who played Syed were quite close and they were quite 'brotherly'. And the obvious 'being married' thing- he definitely said his husband didn't like it.

I suppose so, but it seems like a bit of an overreaction compared to people shouting 'off off off' but I guess it's quite irritating after like 7 years of it haha.

Didn't it show John shaking someones hand in the crowd ?

The crowd are mainly morons so if i were John I wouldnt be too bothered by the boos.

Childish bunch of c**kwhistles.

It works because we are discussing his interview not what occurred prior to it.

But John didn't embellish the truth. See, this is what I don't get, John has been honest and up front, but people seem to blame him for everything. Some of the crowd were ignorant pigs last night and I think John handled them well just like he handled the set up hatchet job done on him in the press conference the night before!

Yes it did show him shaking hands, it didn't show someone booing and subsequently shaking his hand though. One does not equate to the other.

The crowd are clearly very easily manipulated and whipped into some sort of hysteria.

I guess if they'd been asked why they were booing they'd have said 'Because he nominated Darren'.

Dear oh dear ................why didn't they put him in the stocks and give the crowd rotting vegetables to throw. I mean .......he nominated Darren Day (three weeks ago) - it's unforgivable
