I was using Beta which was utter rubbish but now FF 44.0 is pretty good.
Chrome is simply far too draconian. Not so good is the FF 485 score at https://html5test.com. Chrome 44 is a good bit closer to the current full HTML 5 test compatibility score of 555.
It seems fast to me on my slow tablet but this is interesting (link from the fishtank thread)

There FF is smooth but slower yet on my Chrome, 50fps speed is maintained via massive yet ugly frame skip
