I really thought Tamwar had more about him than he showed us (or Nancy) last night.

There was poor Nancy, wearing her heart on her sleeve, more or less begging him to give her a cuddle and tell her everything was going to be all right, but all he did was sit there like a stuffed dummy saying nothing at all, while his heart's desire walked tearfully away.

What the hell's the matter with the guy?

And I don't believe the line he was given: 'She's too good for me' ... that's absolute crap - he's a well educated chap with more intelligence than half the square put together. If anything it's the other way round! It just didn't fit his character to say that.

Why did she dump him anyway? it wasn't his fault she had a seizure and he had a good reason to leave

He doesn't do emotions, at least he doesn't wear them on his sleeves

He's not an emotional person, he's never going to be crying and begging for forgiveness, he's probably been one of the most consistent characters in the show for the way he acts in situations. Is it frustrating to watch? Yup, but that's the way he is, people have been frustrated with him for years because of the way he handles things.

Personally I find it refreshing in soap and also see a bit of myself in the way he acts.

It happened on Thursday.

Tamwar should have told Nancy, how he feels about her, but I understand why he didn't.

Tamwar truly believes that Nancy is too good for him. He has mentioned this serveral times. Also, I think that maybe he is damaged by what happened with Afia. Tamwar tried to save that relationship but it didn't work.

Personally, I would like Nancy to make a big effort to win him back. She knew that he wanted to sort things out but she made it difficult for him.

Although I am white Scottish and gay, I would say Tamwar is the closest character to myself on the show so totally get it. I completely get the lack of confidence, fear of embarrassment and social awkwardness he displays. He may be intelligent and very witty but few people really get him. I feel very much the same.

He doesn't feel that he has a chance of keeping Nancy long term, and feels she is totally out of his league. He also finds it difficult to convey his feelings to her and exposing himself to ridicule or rejection. I think it's all very complex and more confident people may find it difficult to understand but I 100% understand it and it's as if the writers have lifted my story and put it into a muslim, straight man.

Thanks

I always thought they may have gone down the aspergers route with Tamwar.

He literally had no reason to break up with Nancy IMO. He basically thought she was out of his league despite the fact that they've had chemistry for ages.

Hopefully they reconcile, because I couldn't imagine them with anyone else. Afia was never a long term character and Wayne and Dexter were duds.

Could be a ploy to hook Nancy up with Jordan.

He reminds me of a nicer version of Doc Martin.

Nancy broke up with him. I think that Nancy was being silly.

They will get back together, eventually.

Thanks for sharing Aaron, that was interesting and moving.

Yes, I've thought that myself. Tamwar is very rigid in his manner, his clothing and his tone. Would be amazed if he wasn't on the spectrum, so I don't understand why EE of all soaps doesn't go there.

While it might be an interesting storyline, I don't want them to go down the aspergers route with Tamwar. Not everyone is good at talking about their emotions or really expressive. It doesn't mean that he is on the autism spectrum. He is a nice change from the usual characters we get on soaps. Plus when Tamwar is comfortable with people, we see the confident and funny side to him.

They'd have explored Asperger's for Tamwar a long while back if that was the route they wanted to go. He's too established a character for it and he's known for his deadpanning and dryness.

I personally don't get the 'shipping' of this relationship. Nancy character was rebellious and outspoken when she arrived. Getting married in tracksuit without Mick and Linda knowledge. They've regressed the character with her ..umph having got up and gone. Whether they rethought after Jonny left and softened her I don't know but she is so flat. Tying her up with Tanwar maybe sweet but it's dull.

I think that they did have to soften her up when Johnny left. I suspect that he was the one who was meant to support his mum after the rape but Nancy had to step into his shoes. I think losing Johnny, Peter and Lauren so close together messed up their plans for last year considerably, which is why it ended up such a mess.

It's not just those three. I've done a post on the 'having a clear out' thread. So many lynchpin/glue type characters have gone in last 18 months.

You're right. They lost a lot of popular characters during that time. I'd go back even further and say the rot started when Janine left. Now we haven't got a single Butcher, the only Jackson we've got is Sonia, who hangs around like a spare part. We have a solitary Slater and Dot has been left high and dry again.....

It takes all sorts, and the producers and writers must have an idea of where they want this to go. If they are meant to get back together, they will draw it out along with other storylines to keep our attention and talking about it on here...... I did think he needed a swift kick up the derriere......

That he wouldn't fight for her and the relationship and she was willing to leave the pub but he wouldn't give up his job. She also needed him to offer support as she felt embarrassed about what happened and wanted reassurance
