Kindle fire deleted half my music files

Just spent ages copying a large section of my music files onto a Micro SD card to use on my KIndle Fire. They copied fine I could play them, however I had to restart the kindle today and it's decided to delete half of them. Some folders on the SD card completly gone while others remain with nothing in them.

I was going to use this as a replacement for my Ipod Classic which has finally died and I cannot get a replacement for. As I have a very large music collection thought this would be the best way to utilise something I had. Seems not

Why did you have to restart it?
